Hi @tiran. Since there are no updates, is it reasonable to `archive' this repo?

Instead of this:

import jose
jose.jwk_generate({"alg": "A128GCM"})

We want this:

import jose.jwk
jose.jwk.generate({"alg": "A128GCM"})

Cython gives us decorators for various functions we currently emulate (like input types). We should use them.

I'm no longer an admin if pyjose. Please change the merge button to allow only rebase + merge.

We use lots of asserts in this code. This isn't great. We need to come up with a better alternative.

Some of our functions take bytes and/or unicode inputs. We probably should review these on a case-by-case basis and ensure proper typing and input flexibility.
