hover_distance_limiter's Introduction

Hover Distance Limiter Plugin for OpenTabletDriver

Limits minimum and maximum hover distance.

Hover Distance Limiter:

Minimum Hover Distance: The minimum HoverDistance where input is sent.

Maximum Hover Distance: The maximum HoverDistance where input is sent.

Use Near Proximity Cutoff: Uses the NearProximity flag in Wacom tablet reports to filter out the range of hover where NearProximity is False.

Minimum Pressure: The minimum Pressure where input is sent.

Maximum Pressure: The maximum Pressure where input is sent.

Remove Pen Reports: Uses Eraser flag to filter out reports where Eraser is False.

Remove Eraser Reports: Uses Eraser flag to filter out reports where Eraser is True.

How to find HoverDistance or Pressure:

  • Open tablet debugger by going to Tablets > Tablet debugger...

  • Put your pen within detection range of your tablet

  • The Tablet Report box will show the current values for HoverDistance and Pressure.

HoverDistance will not show on all tablets. If this is the case for your tablet, HoverDistance is not supported.

hover_distance_limiter's Issues

Installed but cant find settings...

Hello, sorry if this is a dumb question. I'm new to these custom tablet drivers. I'm using OpenTabletDriver and I believe I successfully installed this plugin (by dragging and dropping it into the plugin manager). and It does say it is installed, but it doesn't show up anywhere in either Filters, Tools, or Interpolators. I can't seem to find it anywhere. Was it supposed to add settings I could click, or is there something else I was supposed to do? Thank you for your help! :)

Mouse Click/Action when a certain pressure is applied?

I think this would be an useful feature to add: trigger a Mouse Click/Keyboard key after applying a certain amount of pressure with the stylus. Some pen tablets like the one im using doesn't support hover distance but it can still use the pressure range cutoff and relative mode so the mouse only moves when your dragging on the tablet (like a trackpad). The only problem is there is no way to lightly tap the stylus and do a click action like you would on a trackpad unless you set those actions on the keyboard. I'm not familiar with making plugins for opentabletdriver yet so i dont really know if this is possible. Perhaps someone familiar with the framework might know if this feature is even necessary (is their an alternative way to get a pen tablet to mimic a trackpad?). I am planning to program the feature in and make the contribution if you think its a good idea or is doable.

Hover off by button press

Allow toggling hover off by pressing a button on stylus.

This can be useful for gaming on tablets that do not support hover distance.
