macos-scripts's Introduction

Hi there πŸ‘‹

My name is Γ‡etin, kral2 is my online alter ego.

I work at HashiCorp as a Solution Architect. TL;DR - I am a "learn it all" kind of person, and always eager to share back πŸ˜„

Before joining HashiCorp, I was focused on anything related to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, with a big emphasising on automation. My favorite tools for the task were Terraform, Packer and Ansible, while morphing into Pythonista mode when things gets serious.

When I don't craft things, I draw boxes and lines on (virtual) whiteboards. Eventually with some smiling clouds.

My previous areas of expertise are mainly around Data Center/Infrastructure stuff (Systems, Virtualization, Storage, Networking, HCI) and End-User Computing. This is reflected in my certification graveyard: VMware (VCP-DCV x3), Citrix (CCIA/CCE-V) & Cisco (CCNP DC) are amongst the tombstones you can see. Other certifications precedes the online badges trend and will receive no love in this world.

macos-scripts's Issues

add dotfiles integration

Once the applications are installed, they need to be configured. To some extends, this can be done using dotfiles. Additional research needed to decide how to handle dotfiles (see https://dotfiles.github.io/).

This repo should not embed dotfiles, but the automated installation process should be able to retrieve and apply them.

πŸ’‘ storing the dotfiles on the GitHub user repo (e.g: https://github.com/kral2/kral2) seems to be a good place to store dotfiles.

snapshot python related config

Over the time, python related tooling and modules grows. There is a need to capture these changes and and be able to apply them again easily on a new system.

  • ansible and its embedded modules (e.g: python oci module for dynamic inventory

Configure Git client

Git client installation is handled by with homebrew using an ansible playbook.

Now, Git needs to be configured before first usage. At least user.name and user.email to not mess the log.
