alpaca-finance's Introduction

This is a Next.js project bootstrapped with create-next-app.

Getting Started

First, run the development server:

npm run dev
# or
yarn dev
# or
pnpm dev

Open http://localhost:3000 with your browser to see the result.

You can start editing the page by modifying pages/index.js. The page auto-updates as you edit the file.

API routes can be accessed on http://localhost:3000/api/hello. This endpoint can be edited in pages/api/hello.js.

The pages/api directory is mapped to /api/*. Files in this directory are treated as API routes instead of React pages.

This project uses next/font to automatically optimize and load Inter, a custom Google Font.

Shareholder Proposal - Implementation of Account Balance Leaderboard

Dear Alpaca Finance Board of Directors,

We are writing to propose the implementation of an Account Balance Leaderboard feature within the Alpaca Finance app. As shareholders and users of the platform, we believe that this addition would enhance user engagement, promote healthy competition, and further solidify Alpaca Finance's position as a leading financial technology company.

Objective:
The objective of this proposal is to create a transparent and competitive environment by introducing an Account Balance Leaderboard that displays the top account balances of users on the Alpaca Finance app.

Implementation Details:

  • Design and Development: Allocate resources for the design and development of a leaderboard feature that prominently showcases the top account balances on the Alpaca Finance app's main interface.
  • Privacy and Consent: Ensure that participation in the leaderboard is entirely voluntary and requires users' explicit consent. Users should have the option to opt-out or hide their account balance from the leaderboard at any time.
  • Ranking Criteria: Establish a fair ranking system that considers only verified and active Alpaca Finance users. The ranking should be based solely on the account balance and should not factor in any other personal or sensitive information.
  • User Control: Allow users to customize their leaderboard experience by providing options such as filtering the leaderboard by time period (e.g., weekly, monthly, all-time) and displaying only friends' account balances.
  • Privacy Protection: Safeguard users' privacy by implementing stringent data protection measures, ensuring that account balances are anonymized and cannot be linked directly to individual users.
  • Public Recognition: Recognize and reward users who consistently achieve top positions on the leaderboard through periodic announcements or incentives. This will encourage healthy competition and motivate users to actively engage with the Alpaca Finance app.

Benefits:

  • User Engagement: The Account Balance Leaderboard will encourage users to actively monitor and manage their accounts, leading to increased engagement and usage of the Alpaca Finance app.
  • Social Proof: Displaying top account balances will foster a sense of trust and reliability among users, attracting new investors and traders to the platform.
  • Competition and Growth: The leaderboard will create a competitive environment that incentivizes users to improve their financial performance, ultimately benefiting both individual investors and Alpaca Finance as a whole.

We kindly request the Alpaca Finance Board of Directors to consider this proposal and initiate the necessary steps for its implementation. By integrating an Account Balance Leaderboard, Alpaca Finance will strengthen its position as a leading financial technology platform while providing an engaging experience for its users.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. We look forward to the board's positive response and the continued growth of Alpaca Finance.

Sincerely,

Alpaca Finance Shareholders

- before $

For a negative wallet balance and anywhere else with a negative balance, put - before $.

Request page shows wrong decimals

Type $10.08 ("." and last "0" does not appear until "8" is typed)

After next, the amount wrongly appears as $10.8

But the proper amount is requested and transferred

Implement "Decline" Button In-App

Description:
As a User, I'd like to be able to decline requests from the App. Currently, the only way to decline requests is from email notifications.

DOD:

  • "Decline" appears beside "Accept" in an open transaction
  • Pressing "Decline" would reject the request and would reflect so in the database
  • Reject message would appear on the transaction just as it would from rejecting in email

Tips:

  • Could use the same process as declining from email, currently have that function so it would be relatively easy

Implement "Send" Function

Description:
As a User, I'd like to be able to send money to other Users.

DOD:

  • Workflow goes through all the necessary steps
  • both parties process the transaction at the same time, if one transaction fails both should fail
  • have a checker to make sure the final amount of both parties is correct
