Installation

If your site is also under version control using git, the easiest way to install this theme is to add it as a submodule. If you have not created a git repo for your project yet, you need to run git init beforehand. Inside the folder of your Hugo site, run the following command.

git submodule add https://github.com/koirand/pulp.git themes/pulp

Alternatively, you can clone the theme into your project.

git clone https://github.com/koirand/pulp.git themes/pulp

Configuration

Configure your config.toml with reference to exampleSite. Put your own avatar image in /static/img/avatar.jpg of your own site, and also favicon.ico. Hugo will automatically use that images instead of the standard one. It's not necessary to alter the theme for that.

Update the theme

You can update the theme by issuing the following command inside your project folder.

git submodule update --remote --rebase

If you have cloned the theme, you can run git pull inside the theme folder.

pulp's Issues

search broken in Tags

Hi @koirand ,

I was trying to make a search on the tags page and couldn't get it to work.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. From main select the Blog icon
  2. Click on one of the tags
  3. Try to search for any word / phrase on this page.

Error will be displayed on the console.

Extra closing braces in layouts/partials/header.html

acf8d53 seems to have added two extra closing braces on line 5 of

<a href="{{ .Site.BaseURL }}"><img src="{{ .Site.BaseURL }}/img/avatar-border.svg" }}></a>
so the line reads:

<a href="{{ .Site.BaseURL }}"><img src="{{ .Site.BaseURL }}/img/avatar-border.svg" }}></a>

instead of

<a href="{{ .Site.BaseURL }}"><img src="{{ .Site.BaseURL }}/img/avatar-border.svg"></a>

Causing an error in validating the resulting HTML.

Fix the look

  • Horizontal scrolling occurs when narrow window
  • Underline of h1 tag and h2 tag is too light color
  • Table is too light color

Add taxonomies in config.toml

It will error when load OpenGraph templates without taxonomies. Add bellow configuration.

[taxonomies]
  series = "series"

Home page mobile viewing?

I'm not sure if this is the best place to ask this, but I'm using this theme for my personal website and I just noticed that the front main page text from my config.toml doesn't reformat properly for mobile. (Though, the markdown pages for my blog posts and other content do.) What are some ways I can improve this?

_index.md not showing any content.

Per https://github.com/diarmaid-mcmanus/site/blob/master/content/archive/_index.md, which generates into https://diarmaidmcmanus.com/archive/

I've tried create a new page on my site using pulp, living under /archive/.

I've tried the page with the following along with title in the opening block :

date: 2019-06-05T12:00:00Z
draft: false

The page itself generates, but no content is displayed. I do not see any warnings or errors when hugo is ran, nor when ran with hugo -v

I've also tried this using hugo new arkive/_index.md, which has the same problem - see https://diarmaidmcmanus.com/arkive/
