selecta's Introduction

๐Ÿ’ฝ Selecta

Vercel

A Crate Digging Tool for DJs to get recommendations from Spotify.

App Preview

Project Structure

This is a Next 13 project, using the app router and hosted on Vercel. Currently I'm using Context to handle the recommendation state in the app, and talking to the API to make Spotify calls from the server.

Contributing

You'll need a number of auth keys to contribute to the project (as listed in .env.example). A Spotify Developer Account is required, as well as a Vercel KV Database.

Roadmap / Ideas

  • Add Soundcloud Support
  • Better Library Interaction (ie. Manage playlists from within Selecta)
  • Re-do the in-app sample player

License

Selecta is distributed under MIT license, which means you can use and modify it however you want. If you have any ideas, improvements, etc. - please feel free to make a pull request.

selecta's Issues

Update Readme

The screenshot, as well as some of the content is outdated.

Some issues with the login landing page

Screen.Recording.2023-08-18.at.6.21.39.PM.mov

As you can see, the desktop view is currently broken (at least on this 13 inch macbook pro of mine). The issue lies in that AuthSignIn has it's outermost div with the class h-screen, which is height: 100vh. Thus, if the inner content overflows 100vh, it will break.

For now, I can get a small fix in that will fix the overflow issue. But I think the desktop view could be slightly redesigned so that the sign in button is more prominent and centered.

Great project - would love to contribute!

Hi there!

I was thinking this morning of creating a spotify crate digging app, since I've worked with the API before and felt like searching music through their algo could be a lot more feature rich. And then I found this great project through your reddit post! And I've had fun using the app and listening to your own music (it's sick btw).

I am making this issue to just say hello and mention I'd like the contribute. I have React experience (not much Next.js but I have worked with server rendered apps) and experience with the Spotify API. Plus I like music and personally would like a better way to crate dig on Spotify ๐Ÿ˜„.

I wanted to make sure some of the feature ideas I have from my first uses of the app aren't already being planned/developed. I made a quick project here: https://github.com/users/amelv/projects/5

I've already forked the project and will start digging around to get a feel for the codebase.

Cheers!
