nether-chest's Issues

1.19.4 or 1.20?

Will this mod be updated? According to Modrinth, it's been a year, and while I see lots of downloads on Modrinth, I don't see much going on here on Github.

I have this mod installed in on my survival server and would like to see it carried forward.

Will you be updating the mode to the newer versions?

Crafting and crafting recipe Not Show

not show in the recipe and if we put brick and star it does not show output item if click output box then star and brick remove but nether chest not add in the inventory

[bug] REI compat

pot
it doesn't have the italicized mod name below it either. I'm not sure why this is but I'm assuming it's not REI

Issues with Jade

when you place a nether chest on the ground and look at it, Jade wont show its content. but when you log out and log back in, then the content will show.

response from the Jade dev regarding this issue:

This should be fixed on their end. Their inventory is not available immediately after the block is placed, which conflicts with Jade's caching strategy

[Suggestion] a way to lock Nether Chest to lock it to specific channel.

This is a copy of a comment I wrote on Curseforge page of your mod.
Though that this would be a bit better place for suggestion to be seen:

I have one idea for a chest to make it even more useful for multiplayer servers:

What if there was... like one slot which let's you insert different items on top/front of the chest and depending on item you can access specific channel.
It would be still public chest... anyone who knows code for the channel can access said channel with their Nether Chest.

So... putting a red dye would be a "red dye" channel, iron sword with 5 damage to durability would be "iron sword with 5 damage to durability" and dyed magenta and named "pinkY" leather boots with 39 damage to durability and enchanted with Fire Protection III and Unbreaking I would be... well, that exact channel.

You could go for one slot and make the chest read all the tags from the chest, making named items, books or maps be possibly one of the best candidates for more secured connections, but risk losing all items inside of the connection permanently if you lose all copies for that specific channel while your items are inside of it.

In fact - signed books seems to be the most secure way of connecting chests. They have information on who signed the book and if they are the original book, or it's copy, or a copy of a copy...
and you can use that to basically create second ender chest with a risk of loosing all it's contents if you lose said book.

With all of that... I think Nether Chest would be much, MUCH more useful than Ender Chest for wireless transportation of items, but also as a bit less secured Ender Chest with a high risk of loosing items if you lose the key.
...which would be an appropriate second use for Nether Star if you ask me.

Bundles as keys, NBT, and names

Working with this on a 1.19.2 Fabric server.

I used an empty bundle as a key, loaded some stuff to the nether chest, then renamed it. Putting it back on the key slot, I couldn't get my stuff. Another empty bundle could not get to it either(!). I found the setting to turn off NBT, and that worked. I can get to the stuff, and use a named bundle empty bundle, or a full bundle to get to the stuff.

However, I'm not following why other unnamed bundles wouldn't work, and I was wondering if there was a way to turn off the precise NBT match, but still keep a name option for a key.

So far, the primary use-case I can think of for this chest is a mobile shop, so each of the keys need to be common enough to not lose or easily replace, but special enough that they remain as keys in the default slot of the Nether Chest. In this scenario, it's highly likely someone will forget a key in the slot of a particular Nether chest, thus removing it from the default slot, and since we have waystones and the nether chest is a common loot drop, there's no telling how far out in what dimension that might be. Or it could be in a long forgotten cave somewhere, or at the end of the end where the player needed to seppuku to get back to spawn.

[Suggestion] option to limit the channel identifier item thing to items without NBT?

I hope this isn't asking too much; I'm only asking because while giving factions on a server the option to store their items is wonderful, it's very easy to create lots of storage channels if you have the resources (and by simply renaming a piece of paper).

But if you limit it down to unenchanted/unnamed items it creates a risk factor of someone discovering your channel and I think that would be pretty cool :)
