buffer's Issues

Values generated are only partially random.

When executing the program, the random number generation follows a pattern across threads, making it obvious that the program only uses pseudo-random numbers. Need to find a good way to seed.

Execution shows garbage values

Can be seen any time the number of producer threads is less that the number of consumer threads.

It would appear that the semaphores are not being used correctly.

buf_remove reports a garbage value

In a Command Prompt window in the project's Debug folder, enter the following commands after the project has been built

buffer.exe 1 2 3

Observe that the produced values are correct, but the consumed values are incorrect (Should be 1, 2 and 3, respectively).

Program will cease to terminate if buffer is full or empty

This is caused by an abundance of either producer or consumer threads causing buffer to be either full or empty, respectively. This in turn causes multiple threads to wait for an empty/full slot in the buffer, after all of the opposite type threads have exited.
