In order to rush out an initial REST API only data models for relational databases were written and these models are imported directly into the API controllers.

The data model consumed by the API controllers must be made generic enough to work with both relational databases and mongodb. Additionally, the models must be an injectable dependency in order to provide for better testing for the API controllers.

The socket connections generated in the AMQP transport are created during the __init__. After the daemonizer forks the process the new child must recreate the socket connections or the process experiences uncaught socket errors.

The workaround in place is to recreate the underlying AMQP connector in the event of a socket error. Instead, the initial connection should be established after any daemonization to prevent masking real socket errors that should bubble up.
