snmp-profiles's Introduction

ktranslate-profiles

This repo contains configuration files that define how KTranslate polls information from specific network devices. This tutorial contains more information about how to create an SNMP profile for a new device type. You can also check out this heavily commented template profile for examples of the fields and configurations you can include in your profiles.

NOTE: This repo is no longer actively creating new profiles based on requests in issues. We will accept pull requests from the community for new profiles but cannot create any more ourselves.

SysOID for generic Linux server is matched to physical Dell server

Any generic Linux server with netSNMP agent will return this SysOID: https://oidref.com/1.3.6.1.4.1.8072.3.2.10
This is currently matching dell-poweredge.yml which describes physical Dell server which is not correct - this can be VM, or any generic hardware.
This profile should really pull info from generic MIBs which would exist on default plain vanilla Linux install.
And the other question is - how this will be represented in NewRelic? Ideally, this should be able to pull most info needed to represent real infrastructure host.
Currently, this fails to pull any useful counter into NewRelic at all.

Cisco IPSLA/RTTR support.

I don't know if this is the right place to bring this up I don't know if this is a software support issue or a misunderstanding from my perspective on how to use the tool. I'm trying to get data from SNMP involving IPSLA/ RTTR. Is this something that is supported? This is the root OID for CISCO-RTTMON-MIB .1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.42

[Bug] - Envmon MIB should not reference entitymib in tags in cisco-all-devices.yml

Currently the CISCO-ENVMON-MIB in cisco-all-devices.yml is tagging entity_index, entity_description, entity_class, entity_name, entity_serial, entity_model using the index from the CISCO-ENVMON-MIB, this not valid and should be removed from this profile.

Feature: Hex to Octet conversions

Some OID's don't store IP as a string, they store it as a hex value that we are going to want to translate.
I need to take this:
.1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.42.1.2.2.1.2.1 = Hex-String: 0A00640A
and display it as a string 10.0.100.10

From what i figured out it would be something along the lines of splitting the hex into 4 blocks then convert them each to decimal, then join them with . as delimiters

[Missing SNMP Profile Request for PowerIQ Devices]

Hi,

We are looking to integrate PowerIQ Devices to New Relic using SNMP Integration. On our PowerIQ we have been configured SNMP V2 configuration.
Unfortunately for PowerIQ devices SNMP-Profiles is missing so we are not getting the metrics into New Relic for monitoring.
So to achieve the customer's goal I would like to request SNMP-Profiles for PowerIQ devices.

I am looking for some basic metrics on those devices below are some of those metrics for their object names.

  • hrSystem (System Information (e.g., sysUpTime, Number of users, Number of system
  • hrDevice: hrDeviceTable (Device Information (e.g., Device types, Processors, NICs))
  • hrDevice: hrProcessorTable (CPU Utilization/Processor Load)
  • hrDevice: hrNetworkTable, hrPartitionTable (Network and Partition Table Information)
  • hrStorage (Memory and Disk Usage)
  • hrSWRun, hwSWRunPerf (Running processes)
  • hrSWInstalledTable (Installed software)

....
etc.,

For company security reasons I'm unable to add the output file for SNMPwalk command.

Please let us know if anything needed from us.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks,
Bharath K.

kentik provider master list

Hello all - great work here btw :)

Apologies if this is the wrong place for this type of issue, I'm not quite sure who would own this question, whether it be Kentik or New Relic.

Is there a master list of 'provider's that can be used in profiles? Specifically, I'm having a hard time figuring out what kentik-[provider] I would put in a profile.yml file here:

Currently polling against 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.305.1.1.1.0, consensus on various forums and data collected in NR shows this oid is very erratic as it is the point in time value with no time averaging.

[NetApp Profile missing snmp metrics]

Hi,

we noticed that we are missing SNMP metrics from our NetAPP integration in relation to:

i) Volume data (e.g. usage, total bytes, avail bytes, used bytes etc.)
ii) Enclosed environmental data (e.g. power, temp, fan etc.) for all nodes - currently receiving data only for 2 nodes.

Let me know if anything is needed. Thanks

Br,
Ioannis
