vtk can't be installed from pip on 686 machines

Thank you, you are right. But maybe it's better to check CPU architecture before the main installation process and display a corresponding message?

its only mentioned in the docs

but some warning like the vtk trhows is likely a good idea
this way it will not allow you to start install

but you can workarround this by installing python-vtk or python-vtk6 from apt

this is not true and the only way for now we know to install vtk is from pip and its only available for x64
from qtpyvcp.
