xyz-tile download tool

positional arguments:
  tileurl               xyz-tile url in {z}/{x}/{y} template

options:
  -h, --help            show this help message and exit
  -e OUTPUT_DIR, --output_dir OUTPUT_DIR
                        output dir
  -o OUTPUT_FILE, --output_file OUTPUT_FILE
                        output mbtiles file
  --extent EXTENT EXTENT EXTENT EXTENT
                        min_lon min_lat max_lon max_lat, whitespace delimited
  --geojson GEOJSON     path to geojson file of Feature or FeatureCollection
  --minzoom MINZOOM     default to 0
  --maxzoom MAXZOOM     default to 16
  --interval INTERVAL   time taken after each-request, set as miliseconds in interger, default to 500
  --overwrite           overwrite existing files
  --timeout TIMEOUT     wait response until this value, set as miliseconds in integer, default to 5000
  --tms                 if set, parse z/x/y as TMS

How do parallel downloads work ?

Sorry, not really an issue but I had no other way of asking.

How do parallel download works ? Setting it to 4 or 20 doesn't seem to make tiles download faster (the lines scroll at the same speed in the CLI window).

Setting "interval" to 10 or 0 didn't seem to change much either.

It may be because I'm trying to download an "uneven" tilegrid (with lots of empty spaces) and most of the queries are 404 and maybe it's slowing it down. I'm not sure.

Memory Issue

hello. I am currently attempting to download the zoom 11 level basemap. However, during the download, the message "killed" appears and the download does not proceed normally. Monitoring with free -h shows tileget's memory usage continues to increase over time. can you figure out the solution? thank you

Error for output_dir

The command

tileget https://mt1.google.com/vt/lyrs=s&x={x}&y={y}&z={z} ./sample1 --extent 4255991.4309 4358391.4309 2049164.2103 2151564.2103 --minzoom 10 --maxzoom 10

(also with 4326 extent) returns:

tileget: error: the following arguments are required: output_dir

feature plan

  • show estimated progress
  • add option to how many times to retry on error
  • output to MBTiles

Please specify EXTENT CRS

In the instructions it is unclear whether the EXTENT should be defined in 4326 (as it appears the case from my tests) or in the URL default CRS (mostly 3857).
It would be useful to add this to the README.
