Is it possible to get this working on FreeBSD. I do not know much about
programming, but am more than willing to test it on my machines. Squeezelite
on Freebsd would make a very small installation.
Thanks

I have been running squeezelite on the raspberry pi for a while now (Arch
Linux). After a recent system update, I started to get bad crackling and
slowing of the audio. Log output shows a bunch of these:
[13:38:16.253615] output_thread:594 XRUN
[13:38:16.253965] ALSA snd_pcm_hw_start:590 SNDRV_PCM_IOCTL_START failed (-32)
I run squeezelite with the following line:
squeezelite-armv6 -m b8:27:eb:cb:b2:80 -n "Kitchen Player" -d all=debug -f
squeezelite.log
So I do not specify a particular audio device.
I've gotten this both with squeezelite compile from the latest source, and from
the pre-built binary from this site.
Any ideas?

The armv6hf squeezelite version 1.0rc2 seems to leak memory. I've seen this
with the previous version I had installed as well (I think it was 0.96? I can't
remember). The kernel's OOM killer kills the task when it reaches about 250 MB.
The only output I have at the moment is the OOM messages; I realize that's not
very helpful, so I'll gladly give you any other information that you may need,
jet let me know what to do to get it.. Maybe run a debug version? It seems to
reproduce all the time here now (after running for about a day), so it's a good
opportunity to debug it.
Thanks!

I'm planning a diy whole house audio solution and would like to be able to
power amps on and off when the squeezelite player is turned on/off.
I see in output.c that you're receiving the power on/off press. It would be
great if there was a command line option for a script that would be ran on each
on/off press. I can build the script, it just needs to be called with the
player name and on or off.
My script would hook this into a Denkovi USB -> 4 port relay card which would
control power to the amps. The script would handle the mapping of which
squeezelite name is mapped to which relay port.
Essentially I can do some pretty good scripting but coding in C is not my forte.
Thanks,
Daniel

Hello,
I maintain the Gentoo ebuild for this
(http://git.overlays.gentoo.org/gitweb/?p=user/squeezebox.git;a=summary).
Gentoo, of course, wants to build from source so having an archive with the
source is necessary.
I've previously been downloading an archive generated on-the-fly from a git
commit that I hope corresponds to the version you've released binaries of, but
this has exposed a problem.
Google code seems to generate the archives on the fly and they seem to be
subtly different sometimes even when generated from the same commit. This
causes the Gentoo ebuild to fail because I have to store a hash of the expected
archive contents to ensure the archive is downloaded correctly.
So, in summary, could you commit a tarball of the source corresponding to the
current version to the 'downloads' section in the same way as you do for the
binary releases, please?
Thanks in advance if you're able to do this.

There is no way to specify the pulseaudio server when using pulseaudio output

It would be useful if there was support for this with a separate flag or via -o

Hi,
it seems that squeezelite will automatically switch to auto-discovery mode, if
the HOST is not reachable (e.g. if startet at boot but network not ready).
This will become a trouble when more than one mediaserver is present within the

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.Play 16-44 file (OK sound)
2.Play 2496 file (Not OK -High speed, high pitch)
3.Play 16-44 file (Not OK - Low speed, low pitch)
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
If bit-rate is changed, the speed of playback changes. If you stick with one
bit-rate (when LMS is restarted), then its ok speed, unti you change song to
another bit-rate again.
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Local Player v1.2 (Squeezelite)
LMS 7.8
OSX Lion 10.7
Please provide any additional information below.
I run USB out of MAC Mini into a USB/Coax converter, then to DAC.
Same problem comes up if I output via HDMI to the TV instead
I understand this is related to issue #11:
http://code.google.com/p/squeezelite/issues/detail?id=11
But I could not understand the "work-around". Do I need to update PortAudio, if
so, how?

- I have a USB DAC that gives me 4 stereo output devices.
- If I run squeezelite with the -o option on Linux, it lists my DACs 4 audio
output channels (along with other default audio outputs)
- When launching squeezelite, I can only link it to the my DAC's first audio
output when I enter the name.
Note, on a Mac, using the -o option lists all output devices with a unique
number that can be used to specify the audio output device to run, and I can
successfully associate any of them.

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Play something
2. Wait for a while
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Songs playing normally, then after 10/12 hours of flawless playback the sound
stop working and a crackling sound starts popping every 10 seconds
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
version 1.0
Linux multilite 3.6.11+ #371 PREEMPT Thu Feb 7 16:31:35 GMT 2013 armv6l

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Play a song A at rate X (say 44 kHz)
2. Play system sound (like the beep of a volume change)
3. Play a new song B of a different rate Y (say 96 kHz)
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Normal play, but song B is played at the speed X (in this example: high pitch,
donald duck voice).
To get sound working again:
4. Play song A again (sounds far too low)
5. Play song B again (sounds allright).
From this point I can play anything at any rate, as long as no system sounds
are mixed in.
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Squeezelite v0.9beta11
Compiled myself from source (64 bit)
Mac mini, OS X 10.7.5 (Lion)
Please provide any additional information below.
No external DAC, only system audio.
Portaudio (pa_stable_v19_20111121) might be the cause.

It would be great to be able to output into jack. I wanted to run a software
crossover and equalizer. It seems jack is much better suited than trying to
route things around in alsa, especially when it comes to synchronisation.

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Play some Album.
2. After the Album finished to nothing for the next few hours (over night).
3. Start playing some music.
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Music is expected. Instead there is silcence, after about 30 s there comes
computer garbage sound (nothing like music).
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
I'm using git latest (8f0e4f2aa0f7) on TL-MR3020 running OpenWrt Attitude
Adjustment.
Please provide any additional information below.
If I first power off the device (via LMS) and then start playing music
everything is fine. So I guess power off does some kind of Alsa disconnect and
would assume an Alsa Disconnect after playback is finished would fix the
problem.
Btw: There is no spectacular info in the log, unfortunately...

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Playback 24bit/192kHz file
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Expected: Normal Playback over HDMI (works on same machine/output with Decibel
for Mac for example).
Instead: slow playback with 44.1kHz
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
OS X 10.8.4 on a 2012 MacMini, HDMI output to NAD C 390DD digital amplifier,

It would be useful to have a list of deps for people who try to build this. By
trial and error I found I needed to install the following packages on my debian
wheezy (raspberry pi) distribution:
libasound2-dev
libflag-dev
libmad0-dev
libvorbis-dev
libfaad-dev
libmpg123-dev
If there are any other deps I must have had them installed already.

Hi,
squeezelite expects the operand HOST. However, this operand, as well as all
other parameters, is optional. It would make more sense to handle this option
as a parameter, like
squeezelite -s HOST
or so.
Best Regards

Today during testing the sound seems to be okay after some time playing bad
sound. But after restarting squeezelite i cannot reproduce this and the sounds
seems to keep bad
I was using squeezelite for some weeks on the RaspberryPI without to much
problem. Maybe it is because i rebooted the unit last night, or because of
installing updates. I`m not sure what caused it.
I can play mp3 files without any issues using mpg321 (both localy and using NFS)
