generic-faq's Issues

Why do you use twitter and github as your main communication methods?

We'd like to outsource our communications to a third-party that does it better than we ever will and these two do it the best in their area. For up-to-the-minute information, such as status and a back-and-forth discussions, we prefer twitter because it has the shortest text limits - if we need more than 140 characters we should just add a page to the FAQ.

And for more slowly-changing content, and the history of how it was created, we have (the github repository) [https://github.com/JohnB/generic-faq].

If you prefer to receive your information via other means, there are probably some automated tools that would convert a tweet into a facebook message or email or even SMS (text).

Why must i let you see my location?

Because our service just won't work without your location.

And we don't consider ourselves to be invading your privacy. No more so than:
Your cell provider who knows your nearest cell tower.
Your cell provider who provides the information to law enforcement.
Sometimes without even a court order
Or attempting to notify you of the request
Your cell provider who also sells the data to advertisers
Who sell it to their partners
Some of whom may be shady

But yes, you are giving up some potential privacy - your friends you share your location with will know your location. Which is the whole point of the app.
