Hi,
I guess the project behind the code is ended but I think that the interest for the algo can be "refreshed" implementing it for the lidR package. It is a framework which allows for LiDAR data manipulation and analysis and its flexible structure might help in re-implementing only the main steps, letting you forget about data I/O and offering a tiling system for wide-area elaborations.
Unfortunately I know nothing about Cpp and Matlab and I can't help.
BTW, thank you for the good work!
