My tablet touchscreen does not work in JingOS

in order to get my touchscreen working i have to apply the patch (already sent in telegram ) to kernel and use this compiled kernel in the jingOS.... so i request you to apply that patch to the jingOS kernel ...so that my touch screen gets working by default....i can also send you my touchscreen firmware file (.fw) ...if you want to include it in the ISO also

Unable to enter long wifi password - Jingpad A1

JingOs v1.0 on Jingpad A1

Through JingOS UI, in the setup (first boot) or in the settings when booted, the text field for wifi password has a maximum number of characters. I know my wifi password is really long but still.

A workaround for that is to enter this password through nmcli utility
sudo nmcli dev wifi connect <ssid> password <password> bssid <bssid>
or even edit the conf file directly

Qt Platform Plugin could not be initiated

I tried JingOS on my Thinkpad X1 Yoga gen3. I was truly astonished 'cause almost all function works as expected, except when I try to install some applications like mathematica, netease-cloud-music, and xDroid etc.

For example, when running mathematica (newest version 12.3), I get

Qt issued a fatal error: This application failed to start because no Qt platform plugin could be initialized. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem.

Available platform plugins are: linuxfb, minimal, offscreen, vnc, xcb.

Qt tried to load plugins from:
/usr/local/Wolfram/Mathematica/12.3/SystemFiles/Libraries/Linux-x86-64/Qt/plugins

Mathematica was installed in /usr/local/Wolfram/Mathematica/12.3

When running netease-cloud-music (ubuntu deb from official website), I get

This application failed to start because it could not find or load the Qt platform plugin "wayland"
in "/opt/netease/netease-cloud-music/plugins/platforms".

Available platform plugins are: eglfs (from /opt/netease/netease-cloud-music/plugins/platforms), linuxfb (from /opt/netease/netease-cloud-music/plugins/platforms), minimal (from /opt/netease/netease-cloud-music/plugins/platforms), minimalegl (from /opt/netease/netease-cloud-music/plugins/platforms), offscreen (from /opt/netease/netease-cloud-music/plugins/platforms), vnc (from /opt/netease/netease-cloud-music/plugins/platforms), xcb (from /opt/netease/netease-cloud-music/plugins/platforms), eglfs, linuxfb, minimal, minimalegl, offscreen, vnc, xcb.

I googled for help, but almost all solutions asked to look at the outputs of ldd (and then install the required pkg), which seems to be normal for me.

Are there any solutions for the error? Thanks.

JingPad A1: Indiegogo Campaign Just Started!

Dear JingOS and JingPad followers,

It is now one year after the formation of JingLing Tech and it's truly been a fantastic yet challenging year!

We have relentlessly been working on our open-source Linux-based OS, JingOS, and our Linux tablet, the JingPad. JingOS can be downloaded for free for a while now and plenty of people use it already, while it is under continous improvement.

But during all this time the development of the JingPad was also firmly driven forwards and now is the time that we can finally release it for sale!

We proudly announce that the sale of the JingPad A1 is about to start on an Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign. Click the purchase link at:
https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/jingpad-world-s-first-consumer-level-linux-tablet

The JingPad A1 is the first consumer-level Linux tablet in the world. Its powerful UNISOC Tiger T7510 processor with ARM architecture provides an outstanding performance at a low energy consumption. Fully charged the usage time is 8 to 10 hours. The displays resolution is 2368 x 1728 which ranges in the top 2% of the laptops in 2020. The display format of 4:3 means 20% more height compared to 16:10 screens. Its weight is only 490g and its thickness is 6.7mm, so it can brought anywhere without effort. JingPad A1 comes with a stylus that detects 4096 pressure levels and thus the drawing is very realistic.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yF_sgYMDKCA

The JingPad A1 runs JingOS, which is tailored to provide the user an excellent, iPad-like user experience. It features a software framework that can run Android apps virtually natively, thus, on JingPad A1 the user can execute Android and Linux Apps.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=byEN1AnLC4o

The JingPad Keyboard is a trackpad-keyboard, which can easily be attached to the tablet. The keyboard has a complete layout and the large 98.5mm x 45.0mm trackpad allows precise navigation. It supports multi‑touch gestures just like the Apple Magic Trackpad. The JingPad Keyboard turns the JingPad A1 into a fully functional laptop. Thus the JingPad A1 can substitute both an Android tablet and a Linux laptop.

JingPad A1 can be your future daily driver! It is portable, versatile, and powerful. See you at the Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign!

Best wishes,
JingOS and JingPad Team

jing OS on Dell Venue 11 7130

trying to run jingos on dell venue 11 7130

Impressive looking interface

I have the following issues:

When tablet is rotated to vertical display is upside -down

On screen keyboard occupies excessive vertical space about half of the height of screen in horizontal mode. When tablet rotated vertically keyboard is too wide to display (aside from it also being upside-down)

No support for the wifi nor bluetooth in Dell 7130 . I know this is a linux issue and ordered intel 8260 which might work.

No way to easily shut down from GUI (where is power icon?). I have to go to terminal and do 'sudo shutdown 0'

More info on this 2 in 1 here https://www.studioteabag.com/science/dell-venue-pro-linux/DV11P/

Any hope for getting the keyboard fixed and getting display to rotate correctly?

3 fingers swap to change active window, weird behavior - Jingpad A1

JingOs v1.0 on Jingpad A1

When using 3 fingers swipe for changing active window, you have to swipe from righ to left to have it work. Doing it the other way does not seem to do anything. Is there a particular reason for that ?

When you have gone to the last opened window through swiping, the "window switcher" does not cycle, you have to swipe backward to come back. This is not a bug, but i find this behavior weird.

To me, expected behavior would have been : swipe 3 fingers (L to R or R to L) switch active window, and if user reach the "last" opened window and swipe again in the same way, cycle to the first one, like a lot of other OS.

ECAD files?

I don't where else to ask so i decided to ask here;

Where are the ECAD files for the JingPad? Or is it proprietary?

Keyboard input inconsistent

Sometimes keyboard works with input and sometimes a strange little intermediate interface pops up and translates. Would be nice if when tap on terminal (for example) keyboard pops up. Also how to completely disable the floating menu thing. Shown in lower right corner.

Why not make the OS OpenSource and make the DE available on other distros?

This OS would definitely be a great alternative for mobile devices. At least layout-wise. But only downloading a whole distro because it looks good imo isn't really the intended way to choose an os. Else you could also just buy an ipad instead of using non-optimized linux software for mobile devices.
If the OS would be open source it would be a great alternative and would be much more secure (see other opensource distros) because many skilled people can improve it!
Also not even being able to use only the DE is even worse than deepins closed source software.
I don't really know what the intention with this is, but if it's not open source there's basically no reason to use it.. it's in no way better than IOS and you can't even tell how much tracking is going on here..
Would be very good for the company and the community to make this opensource, else I don't see a future for it.

XR support !

  • I know this is too early for community to get this recommendation. -

I hope JingOS will have roadmap for Augmented Reality support coming.

All the best to the team.

desktop shortcut not showing - Jingpad A1

JingOs v1.0 on Jingpad A1

I tried to install PWA and web shortcut through chromium (preinstalled version) on JingOs, they do not show on desktop by default.

Chromium adds *.desktop files in /home/<usr>/.local/share/applications which seems to not be scanned for showing applications shortcut on the desktop/home screen of JingOs.
A workaround is to move/copy these files to /usr/share/applications/ folder which is (the one ?) scanned for shorcut.

This behavior will prevent a bunch of applications to show when installing their shortcut here, and to be installed and showing only for certain users of a shared computer.

Unable to see what is the next active window when switching app (alt-tab) - Jingpad A1

JingOs v1.0 on Jingpad A1

When alt-tabbing to switch active window on the A1, it almost never show the next window (the one which is going to be active if you release alt key), but a "mix" of opened windows half transparent with the home screen in background

alt_tab

JingOs does not have a "minimap" of the opened panel on alt tab like windows.
Maybe using the existing minimap from JingOs which is called by the F5 key shortcut on Jingpad keyboard would be a good solution ?
For now alt tabbing on JingOs is almost impossible to use if you have more than 3 opened windows.

Instalation on Teclast x6 pro

Greetings, I would like to inquire about the possibility of installing the system on a tablast x6 pro tablet. Is it possible that it works? I tested with Ubuntu 20.04 and it has problems with drivers: the camera, the touchscreen

Drivers: Binary blobs and linux upstreaming?

Hello,

The JingPad A1 looks to be a very nice Linux Tablet, but I was wondering what the driver situation will be. Will there be an effort to upstream the driver support patches to the Linux kernel?

It's not very clear what SoC you will be using (MediaTek P90 maybe?), but for example PowerVR usually doesn't provide open Linux drivers.

So what's the open source status of the different drivers (GPU, WiFi, modem etc)? Being stuck on an older kernel would make it useless to me.

Access to remote location through file explorer - Jingpad A1

JingOs v1.0 on Jingpad A1

Currently, there is no way to access remote locations (smb...) through the builtin file explorer.
I think this issue is more a feature request thant a bug report, but i think this would be expected behavior to access shared network through it.
It should be possible to install an alternative file browser, but it would not be optimised for the touchscreen and high dpi screen. And browsing file through the command line is not common for a lot of users, and not the easiest to deal with certain situation.

能否用作小型服务器?

是这样的,手头有旧的平板,想做一台小型的低功耗服务器,运行一些Java、Python程序,顺便搭建docker之类的,请问是否支持呢?

App Suggestion Desk Workspace

One of the most important app on the IPad is the muse app.
It functions as the inbox or my workdesk, for processing almost everything.
It would be amazing to have an alternative on the JingOS.
I have many great and realistic Ideas for such an amazing project.

Another good alternative would be miro or diagrams

If this would come to the JingOS, it could serve as a legitimate replacement of my IPad
