On further investigation I decided that this is not one to progress. There are so many #hashtags that appear in my notes from other places, that the list would get polluted.

Improve the counts so that all tasks in a note's section which is marked as a '#template' are ignored. A #template section is regarded as the lines between a heading line that includes a #template tag, and the next heading of the same level, or higher (fewer # marks).

The NP developer said (Reddit, 18.8.2020) that it's planned to add support for .md file extensions not just .txt. Therefore my scripts need to support this as well.

With changes coming in NotePlan v3 the default place this saves to doesn't make sense.
It uses CloudKit which only syncs files that the developer specifies. That doesn't include the Summaries/task_stats.csv file location which I had picked, partly to make sure it sync'd.
So I'm changing the default for CloudKit storage to be whatever directory this runs from.

Extend to add a separate count of open tasks in just calendar files.

Extend to show counts of Goals and Projects in both types of outputs.
Assumes each note file can be at most one Goal or Project, denoted by #goal or #project tag in the header lines.

Don't count open tasks in #template areas.

Create data on when tasks were completed, so in combination with number of open tasks, can track how many have been added and completed per week. Do this categorised by Goal/Project/Other, as usual.

Allow @mentions to be counted, as well as #hashtags.
For bonus points allow @param(number) style, and each number would get counted differently.

NotePlan from v3.0 can use CloudKit for storage, not just iCloud Drive or Dropbox. Need to update this script to allow for CloudKit.

Create weekly summary of those @Items(n) listen in MENTIONS_TO_COUNT.
