NBA Advanced Stats

Find out advanced statistics about NBA teams and their performance during any NBA season from 1980 to 2019.

Example Statistics:

  • Overall Standings
  • Home court records (ranked)
  • Home court advantages (ranked)
  • Average point differential (ranked)
  • Head-to-head records and statistics

Installation

Clone or download the files from https://github.com/jessegan/nba-advanded-stats.

From the base directory of the program, run 'bundle install' in the terminal to install the required gems.

Usage

From the base directory of the program, calling 'bin/nba-advanced-stats' in the terminal will run the CLI.

First, select any NBA season by year and then the app will load all the games from that season. Next, choose from a list of option about that season. At any point, you can choose a different season from the main menu or exit the app.

Development

After checking out the repo, run bin/setup to install dependencies. Then, run rake spec to run the tests. You can also run bin/console for an interactive prompt that will allow you to experiment.

To install this gem onto your local machine, run bundle exec rake install. To release a new version, update the version number in version.rb, and then run bundle exec rake release, which will create a git tag for the version, push git commits and tags, and push the .gem file to rubygems.org.

Bug reports and pull requests are welcome on GitHub at https://github.com/jessegan/nba_advanced_stats. This project is intended to be a safe, welcoming space for collaboration, and contributors are expected to adhere to the code of conduct.
