ecomorph (core) - Error: Couldn't load plugin 'png'

Commit 53c2f0c removed the file /plugins/png.c and hence we don't build libpng.so. I am unsure why png.c was removed or where in the code this is still being reference and generating this error msg. I do know /metadata/png.xml.in is still present but removing it and not building png.xml does not solve this issue.

Do we have a good reason to remove png.c? Or can we reinsert it?

I have run:

./autogen.sh --prefix=/usr

from this repo and it returned the error documented here. Oh and btw, I have received this error on both Arch Linux and Sabayon.
