create MIDIopsy page

Create a page to serve as a front-end for MIDIopsy to make downloading easier for users who may not be familiar with GitHub.

tweaks for mobile geodesy page

The following tweaks would improve the look of the geodesy page on mobile devices:

  • Increase the font sizes on the graphics.
  • Enlarge the surface point marker.
  • Space and abbreviate where possible to allow the entire spatial reference systems table to fit on the screen in portrait orientation without having to scroll.

MIDIopsy - Mobile Usability

screenshot too wide on main page

Google has also reported these on issues the Help page (see email):

  • Text too small to read
  • Clickable elements too close together
  • Viewport not set

prevent flicker when loading

Pages tend to flicker when loading, in the split-second before the style sheet is applied. See if there is a way to prevent this.

combine common elements of stylesheets

Several elements are common to both default.css and mobile.css. Combine these common elements in one place (perhaps a separate stylesheet), to be referenced by both default.css and mobile.css.

fix cropped SVG on Firefox

When viewing SVG on Firefox, the top and left edges appear to be cropped. I might want to do something about this.

Geodesy - add graphics for Angles vs. Distances

On the Geodesy page, add at least one graphic to the Angles vs. Distances section. Possibilities:

  • flat vs. curved Earth surface
  • equivalent surface distances at 0, 30, and 90 degrees latitude
  • surface distance between 2 points (Euclidean vs. great-circle distance)

Telcos - add tooltip info

On the Telcos page, find a way to display additional information about each event (via tooltip, if possible).

persist mobile/desktop view

When switching to the non-default (mobile/desktop) version and then clicking a link, the new page "reverts back" to the default version when it loads. Look into persisting the view (mobile/desktop) until the user explicitly switches it back or navigates off-site.

refactor SVG code

Possibly move JS code that creates SVG to interactive web page that outputs SVG code.

add Oracle page

Add a page as a quick reference for Oracle/Spatial/PL/SQL. Possible categories:

  • general
    • database name
    • Oracle version
    • CSV transposition
    • data dictionary views
    • data types
    • table management
      • creation
      • adding a field
      • changing a field
      • dropping a field
  • Spatial
    • SRIDs
    • table spatialization
  • PL/SQL
    • file I/O
    • PLS_INTEGER
    • GUIDs
    • BOOLEAN
    • FOR loop
    • passing table argument
    • exception handling
