Access Reader is a Chrome extension designed to make web content more accessible by providing text-to-speech functionality. It allows users to have web page content read aloud to them, enhancing accessibility for users with visual impairments or those who prefer auditory learning.
- Text Highlighting: Highlights text under the mouse cursor, preparing it for speech synthesis.
- Speech Synthesis: Reads aloud the text that is highlighted or selected, including word-by-word reading for detailed comprehension.
- Image Text Reading: Capable of reading out the alternate text (alt text) of images or their filenames if alt text is not available, making visual content accessible.
- Custom Activation: Activates speech synthesis upon pressing the spacebar, allowing users to control when text is read aloud.
- Smart Interaction: Prevents the web page from scrolling when activating text-to-speech with the spacebar, ensuring a smooth user experience.
