Useful to:

• communicate halos of two different array types in one call
• combine a halo update and a transformation in one call
• ..
  Challenges:
• if the two distributions apply to different variables, the distributions need to be absolute to combine them.

Implement TYPE(*) to communicate either REAL, DOUBLE PRECISION, COMPLEX or INTEGER arrays. Note, that this can only be supported for ordinary (i.e. non-allocatable) arrays.

Line 133 of gabriel.f90:

read(verbosity,'(i)')v

is not accepted by gfortran. The following is accepted:

read(verbosity,*)v

Unfortunately, the generic update triggers an Intel compiler bug because of assumed-rank arrays, see topic 605427 in the Intel Forum
