Project 2: Who you gonna call? 3-1-1!

Project 2 aims to develop interactive and dynamic maps and data visualizations using non-emergency 311 call data from the City of Cincinnati's website, Leaflet, and D3.js.

Demo video: https://youtu.be/-VVgWzPLKSU

Data

The 311 non-emergency call data used in this project was obtained from the City of Cincinnati's website.

Tools

The visualizations included in this project were created using Leaflet and D3.js.

This project was developed using primarily JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.

Features

This project includes the following visualizations:

  • Leaflet Map: Users can view and interact with a map displaying individual 311 calls as markers.
  • Line chart: Users can view and interact with a timeline of 311 calls by month and time of year.
  • Histogram: Users can view and interact with a histogram showing the response time of calls with different bins based on how many days it took to respond to 311 call.
  • Bar charts: Users can view and interact with bar charts showing Calls by Day of the Week, Calls by Responding Agency, and Calls by ZIP code.

Usage

To run this project locally, clone the main branch of this repository and open the index.html file in a web browser. The data will be loaded automatically and the visualizations will be displayed on the screen.

This project is also accessible through the project site.

Credits

This project was created by Adam Jarvis and Ryan Logsdon for CS5124 Visual Interfaces Data. The 311 non-emergency call data used in this project was obtained from the City of Cincinnati's Website and the visualizations were created using Leaflet and D3.js.
