Thanks so much for this code! mDNS appropriated the .local tld long after Microsoft pushed it who people as a good practice to build company domains, a lot of companies out there still using .local domains. Renaming a Windows domain although possible is a huge undertake with lots of implications. Now that OSs (like Android 12) started exclusively using mDNS for .local resolution this is a bigger issue and your code is the perfect workaround.

I forked and did some minor changes to support Windows DNS Servers (when checking the serial a "." at the end of the domain name is needed) and also added a bit of logic to support pulling multiple domains each from a separate DNS Server (optional). I also added a couple of files to install it as a service on a Raspberry Pi.
