Have to use Firefox to download large files. Chrome and Opera both fail the downloads (anything over 5ooMB)

Currently, in the settings, there are options to notify on complete and to notify on error.

I would suggest the following addition to the settings:
--- Option to notify when a download starts.
--- For each option to notify: add an option to set the duration of the notification in seconds (including an option that the notification remains visible on screen until the user dismisses the notification [which may especially be useful when an error occurs]).

Hello, I've been using your extension for some months now and just earlier this week I was experiencing an issue where whenever I would download any file through Google Chrome, it would begin downloading the item and then immediately freeze up. Checking my downloads folder, the item was successfully downloaded, however Chrome would become inoperable. I would then be forced to close Chrome through Task Manager, and restart the application before I could resume web browsing.

I tried restarting Chrome multiple times, restarting my computer, and yet each time I would open Chrome and download my first item, it would freeze again. Eventually the problem went away when I disabled the Downloads extension. So I believe that something unexpected occurred in the Downloads extension that was the cause of my problems.

I'm sorry that I cannot pinpoint anything more specific than these symptoms and not a specific cause as now I've resolved the issue for myself by disabling the extension for a few days, and turning it back on now and the problem is no longer present. However, I thought it would be good to make you aware of the potential issue.

The icon is always blue at start for me, I have to toggle the drop down before it will go back to the theme I set.

This happens on a set color as well as "match theme"

on MacOS a .dmg for example the browser prompts a message in the bottom tray/shelf along the lines of "files downloaded from the internet could harm your computer: keep or discard?" and you select one or the other. but with the extension, it doesn't give you the option and so it stays in your downloads folder as an unconfirmed download. you have to go to the downloads page within the browser and manually select keep or discard to pull the file out of stasis. would be great if this was selectable within the extension.

on MacOS 10.11 but I'm sure it applies to other versions

The 'X' for clearing the files is gone once the file is deleted. The download gets stuck in the extension. Only way to prevent that is clearing the download in the extension before deleting the file OR clearing it in the browser original download page and then restarting the browser.

I'm using Chrome 104.0.5112.102.

your extension is super helpful and functional.
plz add one more feature to clear the download list from the extension download list.

If starting a browser with a Windows shortcut target like this:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Vivaldi\Application\vivaldi.exe" --incognito
then the browser runs in Incognito mode or Private mode.

When a browser runs in Incognito mode, downloads do not appear in the extension's area "Files you download appear here".

In that situation, downloads do appear normally in the browser's standard tab for downloads. Then also, a badge count is shown as expected on the extension's toolbar icon during downloads.

I really hate that I cannot get a list pane on the right to stay there. I even selected "show download shelf", but it doesn't work.
I switched from Edge to Brave, and I really miss having a downloads list on the right the way I used to have in Edge.
I've been looking everywhere for addons and settings, but no luck.
Is this possible in Brave, or can you do it in a future version?
I'm including a screen capture of the Edge list on the right side.

I was looking the other day for a download manager and I tried your extension in my Brave browser.
I am super happy with it. It does what it supposed to do without any bells and whistles. :)
Great work !!!

The only thing I would add is a button to clear all downloads. You could add it right next to the settings icon on the top right.
Anyway, its just a suggestion as I have an OCD and I like to clear all my downloads without doing it one be one. :P

I think the settings UI would benefit from links to this repo and its issue tracker to make it easier to suggest improvements.

Also, why the spelling downloads-extention rather than extension?

This could be percentage done overall, number of downloads, or even a scrolling title of the current file

I guess it can be fixed by using window.addEventListener('load', enableAnimations) event listener that adds the animation rule or sets some property in the store.
