Add support for audio interfaces
Both current implementations, SAPI and espeak, both use the respective libraries' in-built audio output features which don't allow for configuring a specific audio output.
However, both libraries do present access to the raw audio data, so audio output could be done by speech4d, allowing for more configuration options.

Portaudio is probably a good idea for this.
Add range support for speech synthesis
The Synthesizer.speak function should accept input ranges of characters in a robust and efficient manner.
Add support for speech recognition
SAPI is a given, but what about other platforms? pocketsphinx?
Not working anymore
When building, it gives me the following error message:

SSML support
eSpeak supports SSML, but for WinSAPI it seems to depend on the backend/voice. Some sort of unified interface - that also works with range inputs - should be devised.
Map out how espeak behaves with multiple synthesizers and with multi-threading
Not obvious from the documentation.
Add support for Ekho
Ekho appears to supplant support for Chinese in espeak and has an API (and SAPI backend for Windows).
