clitricks's Introduction

cliTricks

Custom written CLI tools for interfacing with a paginated API endpoint.

It consists of four binaries:

Installing

go get github.com/JackKnifed/cliTricks
  • Compile each binary
go install github.com/JackKnifed/cliTricks/templcat
go install github.com/JackKnifed/cliTricks/lasercat
go install github.com/JackKnifed/cliTricks/prettycat
go install github.com/JackKnifed/cliTricks/apicat
  • You should now be able to find all of the binaries at $GOPATH/bin

Testing

There are no unit tests or similar written for this - at least for the most part. THe binaries are provided as is, without proper testing.

This project is a hack, but it works.

clitricks's Issues

apicat and timed delays

The api's that I'm hitting may not be of the best quality.

if i send requests to them as fast as I can, they may fall over.

i should probably add a timer delay (optional) to wait x seconds between requests.

apicat and failed authentication

when a statuscode of 403 or 401 is returned, i want it to display the username i'm using, and prompt me for a password. That just seems to make sense. If I can do that - idk if i can.

`lasercat` and wildcard targets

lasercat needs to somehow support wildcard targets. Any wildcard item in the target name would be expanded to all items in that map/slice.

IDK what symbol I want to use to do it yet.

I haven't written it yet.

apicat needs to support authentication keys

username/pw's are often temporal - particularly with 2fa

I'm assuming the endpoint would have to first support something to give me an access key when requested - something that can be used for future requests.

however, in leiu of that, if auth fails with one of the above codes (user entered an incorrect password) it would be cool to prompt for a new password.
