dmenu's Issues

Patch tester

Breaking? Origin
No ๐Ÿ‡ฒ๐Ÿ‡ฝ

Description

Until now, every new patch is tested manually; applying every previously existing patch along with the brand new one, making the process unnecessary slow. It should exist a utility that can handle this process automatically. A patch-tester.

Describe the solution you'd like

This patch-tester should:

  1. Apply the new patch (the subject of the tests).
  2. Apply the next patch available (each patch will be a test on its own).
  3. Remove the patch applied.
  4. Mark the test as succeeded or failed based on the exit status of the previous command.
  5. Report the results of the test (number of tests done, number of tests succeeded and number of tests failed).
  6. Return dmenu to its state prior to the test.

Describe alternatives you've considered

As an alternative, the patch-tester could:

  1. Apply every available patch, all together.
  2. Apply the new patch.
  3. Report the result of the test.
  4. Return dmenu to its state prior to the test.

In this solution the 1st and 2nd step should be able to switch indistinctly. The main problem with this solution is the incompatibility of some patches, making necessary to handle this exceptions manually.
