Netflix Max Bitrate

Enforce the highest available bitrate for any Netflix title in Firefox. Works for both audio and video.

This extension requires the hidden Netflix bitrate menu to be active and accessible by the CTRL + ALT + SHIFT + S keyboard combination. As of this publication, Netflix has disabled the bitrate menu, but certain browser extensions have reenabled it. The Force 1080p playback for Netflix extension is one such plugin, and is recommended due to its complementary behavior.

FAQ

I work for Netflix. How do I throttle the bitrate?

The bitrate is set just after the page is loaded. At any point afterwards, it may be manually overridden through the hidden bitrate menu.

I work for Google. How do I collect your personal data?

The code contained by this repository is cross-platform, and has been ported to Chrome as a feature of the Netflix 1080p extension.

Port of feature to Chrome plugin

Hi,

I recently started using a Chrome plugin called netflix-1080p to unlock 1080p on Netflix in Chrome.

I was having issues where Netflix would arbitrarily drop the bitrate through a stream, so despite having unlocked these nice high bitrates, it would become crappy quality after 15 minutes or so. I found your extension to solve this problem, and have made a pull request on that project to merge your javascript functionality into that project.

I've linked to your project in the pull request, but if there's anything else you'd like me to do please let me know.

Max bitrate only set on page reload

The plugin does not function properly when first navigating to the player, but appears to do so when reloading the page.

It is unclear whether this is due to a change in the Netflix player, or an oversight in testing.

Bitrate menu should be reenabled without help of separate extension

It would be useful to remove the dependency on the netflix-1080p-firefox extension, especially now that that extension has been removed from the Firefox addons site.
