Setting Up a Development Environment

Clone the repository git clone https://github.com/itsmeow/betteranimalsplus
1. Download & install git if necessary
Ensure the JDK 16 is installed
1. Download & install JDK 16 if necessary
Open build.gradle in IntelliJ IDEA as a project
1. Download & install IntelliJ IDEA if neccessary
Go to File -> Settings -> Build, Execution, and Deployment -> Build Tools -> Gradle and ensure Gradle JVM is set to Java 16 or higher
Wait for the project to sync and index
Run the gradle task genIntellijRuns

French Translation

Tiles load before blocks causing null blockstate crash

Describe what you were doing before the crash
So some friends and I were messing around with a command block that would /kill you if you pressed a button (we were bored I guess? I have no good excuse). And about every second or third time we died from it, we got disconnected from the server, with the attached crash log.

My assumption is that this is somehow related to the fact that players drop their heads upon death (which I thiiiiink is from Quark? I've attached my modlist in case it's something else). There are still some textureless heads in JEI so perhaps they're somehow related? Unsure.

Lamprey should not spawn in ocean

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
I always see lampreys in ocean, but they are freshwater fish...
I know some lamprey live in ocean, but they should live in river mainly.

Badgers not spawning naturally

Version 6.0.1 (1.12.2)

Badgers do not appear to be spawning in the world naturally, at least not in my modpack: https://minecraft.curseforge.com/projects/gondwana
which uses a Biomes O Plenty worldtype.

The config shows a long list of biomes from vanilla, biomes o plenty, novam terram and other biome mods where badgers are supposed to be spawning and yet I have never seen one in the wild, not even after putting their spawn chance right up to 100, not even in vanilla biomes.

I find every other animal from better animals+ easily even though the spawn rate is set much lower

They do however spawn normally from spawn egg which makes me think it's a problem with BA+ rather than a conflict with another mod as usually when it's some other sort of conflict the mob won't spawn at all or crashes the game.

To reproduce simply start a single player world in my modpack after a short creative flyover you will see that all the other BA+ animals are everywhere except for badgers.

What I expected? I expected badgers.

Biomes not registering always due to BA+ loading before Biome mods sometimes

More specifically, support to spawn your mobs in their biomes. Biomes O' Plenty appears to have been done by default, at least, via the config.

Client Crash on Dedicated Server when using MoC (without CMS) and BA

Describe what you were doing before the crash
This crash is unique in the way that it crashes my client ONLY if I'm running a dedicated server. I am currently running Better Animals and MoC together on Singleplayer in my Client. It does not crash my server, only the client that renders the "ticking entity." I removed Better Animals from the server and it solved the crashing/ticking entity.

This happens near literally any body of water capable of spawning aquatic entities.

Run a dedicated server with MoC (no CMS) and Better Animals
Play near a body of water for 10 minutes or so (takes less than that usually)

I expected the fox to be visible, especially since the game is able to recognize the model, just somehow its not loading in the wild.

I tried updating the mod to the latest version but the client side ended up crashing soon after logging into the server. Even so, for the small amount of time on the server the fox was still invisible. I have about 175 mods on this server and I'm really not sure what could be causing this graphical glitch.

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
I'm making a pack and want to customise spawning with InControl. When disabling spawning in your config-file, it removes the entity so I cannot assign it a new rule.

Describe the solution you'd like
Leave the entity in-game so I can assign a new spawn-rule to it.

Describe alternatives you've considered
Altering the spawn-rules, but that is too complex and I don't think 100% possible with existing mods.

Crash when running ice and fire mod.

Jellyfish levitating above Water & Icon Size

Describe the bug
Jellyfish float above water. This seems to be related to their hitbox, which appears at the bottom of their tentacles. There's a closed bug for this, but it still seems to be happening.

Also their map mob icon is way too big

I included a screen shot. You can see 4 jellies floating above the water and how large their map icon is in comparison to fish. They're also about 2-3x the size of normal land mobs. I'm guessing this is based on the size of an icon file?

Loot tables for deer not found

Describe the bug
I'm using LootTweaker-1.12.2-0.0.9 (for CraftTweaker2-1.12-4.1.17) with Better Animals Plus 5.0.2 and I'm trying to edit the drop tables for the deer. I used /ct loottables target when looking at the deer entity, which produced "dumps/loot_tables/betteranimalsplus/deer.json."

According to the LootTweaker documentation, to edit the table I'd need to call the table with "LootTables.getTable("betteranimalsplus/deer");" However, when I do this, my game gives me an error that says that loot table doesn't exist. Bizarrely, it DOES seem to have properly modified the drop table, even though it supposedly doesn't exist. Even more bizarrely, the deer don't seem to drop ANYTHING upon death. This leads me to believe that there might be some kind of issue here, which is why I'm reporting this.

To Reproduce

Spawn BAP deer.
With previously mentioned mods installed, type "ct loottables target"
In the /scripts/ folder, following the documentation here, put the following code:

cant pick up dropped boar heads (on occasion)

i killed a group of about 4 boars, the first one i killed dropped a head and i picked it up no problem, then the last one i killed also dropped a head, but no matter what i do, i still cant pick up the head. i tested if the issue might be lag by breaking a few blocks around the item, and i could pick up blocks just fine, but i could not pick up the boar head.

BA+ animals do not spawn in biomes added by other mods, despite the fact vanilla mobs and other modded mobs do spawn in those biomes

Seems like a similar issue to the deer not dropping anything from before, but neither reindeer nor regular deer (I'm pretty certain that the hirschgeist is not supposed to drop any meat) drop any venison when killed. I have been getting heads from them though.

Describe what you were doing before the crash
A player of mine looted a boar head and, like a genius, placed the non-textured item in his base. Now anyone who enters the area is crashed out of the game.

Cooking Venison doesn't increase the food levels

As per title, Raw Venison and Cooked Venison appear to have the same nutrition values (1,5 food and 1,5 saturation).

Tested on Better Animals Plus version 5.0.1 on Forge 14.23.5.2814
