Create an Open Source section on Work page

Description

Create Open Source sections and talk about what I do as a maintainer and contributor. Talk about a lot of the different small things I do and how I work within the community.

Make sure to have separate parts for:

  • Professional experience
  • Open Source
  • Projects:
    • Mentorship System (Android and Backend projects);
    • MSc thesis;
    • Movie App: first kotlin app reviewed by Andre;
    • Personal website;
    • etc

Start writing and distinguish visually snippets / unconventional posts

After learning about the concept of digital gardens, I want to start writing shorter blog posts, they don't even need structure but collect thoughts or information I found useful to keep public.

For example the podcasts I listen to. I want to write posts that can evolve and change over time.

Examples:

  • quick commands I use on terminal
  • blog posts that stayed as forever drafts
  • podcasts I listen/want to support

Add github repo link to footer next to powered by keyword

Description

  • Add mention to footer that the code lives in this repo

Why

Because I keep going through many clicks to find this repo to do changes, and for people to know this is open source and then anyone can read the source code.

List blog posts in the posts by tag rather than by date

Description

Instead of listing blog posts in chronological order, list them by tag and in chronological order within the tags.

Why

This will make the posts list easier to skim through and help me feel less self-conscious about the way I write fully-fledged blog posts, when sometimes I just want to write a small post with useful content still.

Ideas

Inspiration

My inspiration is Julia's blog layout, which I love: https://jvns.ca/

Issue template & pull request template

Description

Create issue & pull request template so I can structure them once I create them

Why

I want these because I always try to give some structure to these... I want this structure pls

Add list of tags on top of blog posts

Description

Show list of tags on top of the posts itself.
I want to see how it will look like.

Why

I want to give an idea at first glance the topics I might write about πŸ€”

References

I saw this website and thought it really looked good: https://craiglabenz.me/archive/
I think I can take a look at other branches for similar tasks with focus on topics/tags https://github.com/isabelcosta/isabelcosta.github.io/issues/52 and https://github.com/isabelcosta/isabelcosta.github.io/issues/55

Create a page / seed blog post with Talks I LOVE

Description

Create a page / seed blog post with Talks I LOVE

Examples are... almost every talk from yougotthis.conf :) and others I have in my personal notes

With this ticket, I will try for the first time this notion of special posts, where they are not linked to a date but as simple as post its I have only on my website, with a last update date associated instead.

Making sure to hide it from the main blog list.

Add section for competitions I participated on

Description

Competitions and their projects:

Tone down that About page

Description

Simplify the About page.

Why

There is too much there πŸ€” No need for sections I think

Add icon next to external posts

Description

Add an icon that indicates that a post is external and not hosted on the website.
Follow up to #87

Why

because clicking the post, will lead the visitor to another website, and they should get a hint at that.
