$breakpoints Sass map instead of list

Is there a reason $breakpoints is a list of pairs instead of a hash map?

I can't seem to figure out how to get the values I need..

.logo {

  width: 4 * $inuit-base-spacing-unit;
  @include breakpoint(nth(nth($breakpoints, index($breakpoints, "lap-and-up")), 1)) {
    width: 6 * $inuit-base-spacing-unit;
  }

}

With a hash map you can just do map-get($breakpoints, "lap-and-up")

Why using px instead of em?

Not really an issue, but I'm thinking other people might be wondering the same thing…

I'm sure you're aware of the differences between breakpoints in em vs px so I was wondering why you're opting for pixels… Thanks!

Here's some context if anyone's wondering what I'm talking about.
