smart_borders's Issues

error when loading

hoping for some help-- i'm running the default theme on awesome 4.3, i've added the require line per README.md, and get this error--

smart_borders/init.lua:198: attempt to call a nil value (method 'activate')

i'm not super familiar with lua-- i presume function(c) is being called, that there is an expectation that it has a method "activate", but not sure what is/isn't being passed.

p.s. your screencap/gif is amazing. in awe of your curses prowess-- lolcat and nvim are now installed.

Trouble getting started

Hi. I've got a basic config set up (Debian Buster on an Odroid N2) but I'm not seeing any smart_bars, just the regular titlebar. Might there be something obvious I have missed?

smart_borders not showing at all after installation!

Hello
I can't get smart_borders to work at all, even though I followed all the required steps of the installation! I'm using awesome-git!
What I did:

1- git clone https://github.com/intrntbrn/smart_borders ~/.config/awesome/smart_borders
echo "require('smart_borders'){ show_button_tooltips = true }" >> ~/.config/awesome/rc.lua
2- make my border size 0 in theme.rc
3-removed the default mouse binding in rc.lua
4-copied your configuration example to my rc.lua
5-restarted awesome
I don't have any errors, but I don't see the smart borders, I'm wondering what I'm missing to get them work?

Smart Borders are Transparent

Hello,

Thanks for your amazing work! The problem is that no matter how I set the color, the borders are transparent. This also happens even when I use your example configuration. However, the other settings like border width and tooltip do work. The borders are also transparent when I have my compositor turned off.

change floating window border colour?

Hello
First, thank you for smart_borders its awesome!
Can you tell me please how to change the floating windows border colours? I want to differentiate between tiled and floating windows by their border colours!
Thank you in advance

[Feature Request] Separate Button Position

Just like how each button size can be configured, there should be options for configuring positions of each button separately, unless there is already an implementation and I haven't figured it out yet.

Example: Have the maximize button on the top border to the left, and have the close button on the right border towards the top.

Not an issue, a question re rounded corner values

Hi,

Thanks for a terrific extension. Pls forgive my stupidity... it's not quite clear how I set individual rounded corner values in the init.lua?

I can see that you allow for values on each side, I just can't quite work out the correct syntax.

Many thanks :)

No borders for certain clients

Hi. I have been using smart_borders for some months now and it's great. But there's something I'm missing: for some types of clients (e.g. the "new e-mail" notifier I use) I would like to have no borders at all. I have rules in my rc.lua to specify that, but then smart_borders gets loaded and it overrides the previous per-client settings. Can you suggest a solution?
Thanks!
