Stiff Labels

Having an issue with the numeric scale, when zoomed out, say 1: 90,000, the numbers on the top scale wrap to a second row. About somewhere around 1:50,000 and numerically below, the labels quit wrapping and appear above each tick normally. I get why it is happening, but wondering if there is a rule of thumb based on your selected Arcmap scale and the magnitude of the largest values, where you could set the horizontal stretch prior to generating the stiffs? No big deal, I’ll just set the label to not displays at anything > 1;50K, the audience should be going off the poly shape anyway. I attached a couple screen caps.

Allow for Lat/Long
