A simple LaTeXclass for creating invoices, geared towards European (EU) users.
Summa strives to be a simple class to meet my simple needs: to create simple invoices, optionally showing taxes, and caluclating everything automatically. Importantly, it can handle regular and reduced tax rates in the same invoice, which many (most) other classes I found on CTAN can not.
It started out as a fork of rechnung.sty (“Rechnung” being the German word for invoice). There are other known forks, and while I am grateful for inspiration and perhaps the occasional snippet of code, they simply implement functionality that I – as a non-German – do not need and no longer consider “simple”.
Also, the created invoice tables look downright ugly. (Seriously, who needs vertical bars? Or most hoizontal ones, for that matter?)
v.01 Forked from rechnung.sty. Tidyed up some code. The basics.
v.02 Added two sample letters. The German one can already serve as a viable
basis for your invoice, but the English one is more proof-of-concept than
anything else. All letters are extensively commented in English.
- Remove last traces of German functions, variable names, comments etc.
- Only natural numbers are accepted as tax rates for now (i.e., 10, 16, 21 etc. percent – France for one uses reduced rates of 5.5 and 2.1 percent for some goods or services. Similarly, Switzerland.
- Use \InvoiceLine* instead of \InvoiceLine[e]. Generally improve the handling of starred commands.
- An interface with babel, to choose language and/or currency (tax rates?) automatically
- When using \Credit, store credit larger than the amount owed leads to errors
- Make a starred version of \Credit that is not a running item, but deducted at the bottom with the taxes. Same for shipping, or other random items?
- What about percent discounts? ("3% Loyal Customer Discount")
- What about 0% tax items? (Fees, cash repayments etc.) \ZeroTaxItem? Or \InvoiceLine[0] or \InvoiceLine[z] or similar …
- Option to have $ before amount, € after: $10 <=> 10 €
- Layout issues with single digit tax amounts (e.g. 19/7%)
- QR code needs to get values automatically, instead of having to hardcode them
- Issues with X class: \TaxAmnt uses the last calcualted value instead of zero
- An easy way to add a horizontal rule, or some vertical white space?
- Perhaps a counter for invoice numbers, automatically incremented and writen to an external file?
