activity-tracker's Issues

Broken Links in ActivitiyTracker docs

There are broken links in the AT doc.

I was reading AT docs here: https://cloud.ibm.com/docs/activity-tracker?topic=activity-tracker-event

After clicking API documentation in the requestData or responseData section, I am routed to a page that allows me to search all documentation in the IBM Cloud. Given how the doc is worded, I instead expected to be routed to a specific page that gives more information on the exact content I was reading about.

Here is a screenshot where I clicked API documentation:

(Activity Tracker) : Is there advance notice of IP range changes?

We have a ticket CS3044428 raised by customer: as shown below:

Hello,

The access source range of WebHooks emitted from Activity Tracker is as follows, but if the IP range changes, how will the user be notified?

https://cloud.ibm.com/docs/activity-tracker?topic=activity-tracker-cidr&locale=en

Will there be advance notice of IP range changes as part of IBM Cloud's periodic announcements as we may not be able to receive webhooks in post-notification notifications?

Please advise how do we notify the customer???

Monitoring user API keys topic is no longer available

The topic "Monitoring user API keys" was removed in commit 02264b3 on April 1, 2021. This topic describes how to audit API key usage.

This topic is referred to by the CIS IBM Cloud Foundations Benchmark v1.1.0 topic 1.2 "Ensure API keys unused for 180 days are detected and optionally disabled". Since the topic is no longer available, users do not have documentation describing how to monitor their API key usage over time. Here is a snippet of the IBM Cloud Foundations topic,

Audit Procedure
Console:

  1. Log in to IBM Cloud at https://cloud.ibm.com.
  2. Go to the Menu icon. Then, select Observability to access the Observability dashboard.
  3. Select Activity Tracker from the page navigation menu
  4. Check for instances of IBM Cloud Activity Tracker with LogDNA
  5. Generate events and configure a view in Activity Tracker with LogDNA, see https://cloud.ibm.com/docs/services/Activity-Tracker-with-LogDNA?topic=logdnaat-tutorial_iam_apikeys#tutorial_iam_apikeys_step2

IBM Cloud Activity Tracker route or hosted not clearly described.

On https://cloud.ibm.com/docs/activity-tracker?topic=activity-tracker-getting-started The below references a page that is not provided (see last sentence)

_Depending on your compliance and organizational requirements, you can choose IBM Cloud Activity Tracker event routing or an IBM Cloud Activity Tracker hosted event search offering.

Application environments seeking to maintain Financial Services (FS) validation status on IBM Cloud should use IBM Cloud Activity Tracker event routing. For more information, see ._

Updates for Power IaaS location details

Hi,
I am from the PowerVS docs team. We recently came across an update that involved this topic update too.
Link: https://cloud.ibm.com/docs/activity-tracker?topic=activity-tracker-cloud_services_locations&interface=cli#cloud_services_locations_power-iaas

In the table > Americas tab, we can see that all the events are being forwarded to Dallas. Under Washington column, it is correctly reported that "Events are available through the Activity Tracker Dallas instance." We want to see the same text under Toronto and Sao Paulo columns also. Please check with Tom Mathews ([email protected]) if you have any questions or want a confirmation.

Mismatch on Recovery Point Objective

For Activity Tracker, on the High Availability and Disaster recovery page, under the heading "DR Recovery Time" there is a table which says:

Recovery objective for DR Estimated time
Maximum Tolerable Downtime (MTD) / Recovery Time Objective (RTO) Less than 24 hours
Recovery Point Objective (RPO) Less than 4 hours

However, in the text immediately above there is a statement which reads:

"Data and the auditing metadata such as dashboards, alerts, views, screens, templates are backed up every 24 hours. In the event of an un-recoverable disaster, up to 24 hours of data and metadata changes to the auditing instance in the failure region can be lost."

So surely the Recovery Point Objective can be 'Less than 24 hours' at best and not 4 hours as stated, as the previous statement says up to 24 hours of data can be lost?

"kept in the data centers near that region"?

In the Activity Tracker documentation, on the High Availability and Disaster Recovery pages and the section headed 'Data Availability', there's a sentence that reads:

"The data that is managed by Activity Tracker in a region is kept in the data centers near that region."

That doesn't sound right..... surely it should say "The data that is managed by Activity Tracker in a region is kept in the data centers of that region."? Otherwise, what does "near that region" mean?
