I saw this salt in here and seems a little strange but I don't know much about elixir apps. Should it be stored in a config and not committed to the repo?

Gzip should be set to true unless you ran into some issue that caused trouble😄. What do you think of making it configurable?

From what I can tell it looks like the voter and admin codes should be configurable or be loaded from a database. What do you think of moving them into one of those places?

It would be great if voters were given or could select an avatar that could be shown on screen when their vote is tallied.
Since live video streaming has a (largely) inherent and significant lag, voters might feel disconnected from the experience if their vote is not immediately displayed on screen. Having an avatar that appears on screen that coincides with when their vote is recorded would help to reassure the voter that their vote did indeed count.
