Script failure on path with space

Hi,
Please edit the script generate.sh on line 56 to cd "$SCRIPT_DIR"
Otherwise it fails to execute if the script path has a space in it.
I'm creating an issue as this is a small change so I would like to avoid the hassle of a pull request.
Regards

Start.ps1 still falsely concludes Python 3 is available, despite being already installed.

First of all thanks for making this software, it's proving to be a life-saver for me right now!

This issue seems similar to #2, although my situation is a little different.

I do have Python 3 installed, but I still get the Microsoft Store redirect when I try to run a python script from powershell. After doing some digging, it seems this was the culprit:

I think we have this problem when installing Python because in a new Windows installation the aliases are in the ON position as in image below. When turned on, Windows puts an empty or fake file named python.exe and python3.exe in the directory named %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\WindowsApps. This is the alias.

UCwkU

Then Microsoft put that directory at the top of the list in the "Path" environment variables.

iTeHL

When you enter "python" in cmd, it searches the directories listed in your "Path" environment variables page from top to bottom. So if you installed Python after a new Windows 10 install then get redirected to the Windows Store, it's because there are two python.exe's: The alias in the App Execution Alias page, and the real one wherever you installed Python. But cmd finds the App execution, alias python.exe, first because that directory is at the top of the Path.

Obnoxious of Windows to do this, but it's easy enough to fix once you see what's going on. I don't know if there's an easy programmatic way to handle this in-script, but maybe at least either alert the user to remove their aliases if the script doesn't actually run, or just move to the next fallback? Or even just adding a note in the docs about this potential pitfall.

(Someone suggested a programmatic solution to this issue for use in scripts, though I'm not sure if directly messing with the user's aliases like this is the best idea:)

Remove-Item $env:USERPROFILE\AppData\Local\Microsoft\WindowsApps\python*.exe

Unable to attach inspector / iOS 16 issues?

I get this in the 2nd CMD Window thats opening:

Listing devices on :9221
Could not start com.apple.webinspector!: No error
Unable to attach 00008120-001E250C110B401E inspector

While the powershell window instructs me to open the localhost:8080 stuff, it does not show errors:

You can then open http://localhost:8080/Main.html?ws=localhost:9222/devtools/page/1
in a Chromium or WebKit based browser to start debugging.
Press Ctrl+C to exit.

Searching web server
Found Python 3, using it to serve the WebInspector

Using an iPhone 14, with iOS 16.0.3 on it.
Could not get any debuggin software to start yet.

http://localhost:9222 is blank with no console error

When I open localhost:9222 the page just displays the following;

Inspectable pages for My iPhone:

and nothing else, no console errors, and no errors in the network tab.

http://localhost:8080/Main.html?ws=localhost:9222/devtools/page/1 displays the devtool page, but nothing to inspect. In the console it has the following errors;
GET http://localhost:8080/WebKitAdditions/WebInspectorUI/WebInspectorUIAdditions.css net::ERR_ABORTED 404 (File not found)
GET http://localhost:8080/WebKitAdditions/WebInspectorUI/WebInspectorUIAdditions.js net::ERR_ABORTED 404 (File not found)
WebSocket connection to 'ws://localhost:9222/devtools/page/1' failed:
and network tab for chrome devtools also shows the missing files logged in the console were not found

If I click the target or reload buttons, I get an uncaught error that looks like the following;

When I go to HTTP://localhost:8080, the result is as shown below.

WebKit Inspector missing files

Hi,

I followed the process on win11 and I get everything to work except that when I visit the page http://localhost:8080/Main.html?ws=localhost:9222/devtools/page/1, I have some errors.

It seems to be missing the WebKitAdditions folder and from there, I don't know what I can do...

Any idea ?

Thank you !

Debugging within VS Code

Is there any current way to do live debugging similar to what is mentioned here in VS Code? I have spent a good chunk of time trying to get an implementation of it working and am just unsure if it's possible. Thanks!

Python 3 webserver not working on Windows 10

Hi, when trying to run start.ps1 and then opening the suggested URL Chrome indicates that the website is not online, this also happen when trying to open localhost:8080. After modifying start.ps1 to not look for Python (line 46) it works perfectly by using the NodeJS one.

Environment: Windows 10 with Python 3 and NodeJS v17.2.0
Used for: iPhone 7 with iOS 15.4

Hope this info is useful.

Memory usage

Forgive me if I should know this, but is there a way to check memory usage with this? I'm trying to find out why my safari is crashing and I see a lot of other cool stuff, but not active memory.

localhost refused to connect

Hi. I ran start.ps1. In one terminal window I have this:

Listing devices on :9221
Connected :9222 to iPhone (4) (00008030-00164D3A023B402E)

In the other I have this:
Entering script directory C:\Programming\ios_safari-remote-debug-kit\ios-safari-remote-debug-kit\src
Running ios-webkit-debug-proxy...
Entering C:\Programming\ios_safari-remote-debug-kit\ios-safari-remote-debug-kit\src

When I open http://localhost:9222/ I can see this:

  2. ?
  3. ?
  4. https://something-else.com/

However if I open http://localhost:8080/Main.html?ws=localhost:9222/devtools/page/1 I get an error message:
This site can’t be reachedlocalhost refused to connect.
Try:

Checking the connection
Checking the proxy and the firewall
ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED

I tried two different iPhones. One with iOS 15 and one with iOS 16. Same result.
Any ideas what the problem is?

Should this still work with iOS 15?

Trying to connect an iPhone with iOS 15.6 I get:

Listing devices on :9221

I guess that's a problem with ios-webkit-debug-proxy?

ios-webkit-debug-proxy -Fd gives me:
