Parse error when installaing 0.0.2-alpha

Installing it with
composer global require henzeb/composer-link 0.0.2-alpha
fails with this error message:

PHP Parse error:  syntax error, unexpected 'LinkManager' (T_STRING), expecting function (T_FUNCTION) or const (T_CONST) in /home/vagrant/.composer/vendor/henzeb/composer-link/src/LinkPlugin.php on line 25

How do I prevent this tool from linking everything on `composer install/update`?

I only want to link package X when I'm working on it. Currently when I run composer update on the package linked (possibly on any package or even on composer install, haven't checked), it links the package at the end of the process which I do not want.

So basically, only link the package when I explicitly tell it to do so using composer link
