burg's Issues

Burg2 cannot install on BTRFS

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. bootdisk formatted as BTRFS
2. sudo update-burg
3. /usr/local/sbin/burg-probe: error: cannot find a device for / (is /dev
mounted?).
4. GRUB happily stays where and as it is.....

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I expect to see Burg configured, instead I see:
/usr/local/sbin/burg-probe: error: cannot find a device for / (is /dev
mounted?).

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
BURG: current stable release
OS: Ubuntu Desktop 11.4 Natty Narwhal (last update this morning)

Please provide any additional information below.

I tried to install BURG in different scenarios.
* Laptop with Intel x64 CPU
* Desktop with AMD x64 CPU
Both two partitions (swap + \) formatted as BTRFS

* existing installs (all the way upgraded from jaunty)
* brand new installs (Lucid+Natty)

After reformatting as Ext4 I could install Burg2.
After reformatting as BTRFS, no go!

In all these scenarios I had no issues with GRUB!
My inkling is that burg-probe is causing the issue.

Ubuntu's old pre-lucid icon (fix included)

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Wait for BURG menu
2. Look at Ubuntu's icon

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
You'd expect to see ubuntu's new icon for lucid, which is anyway much better
than older icons and should also be used for older versions of ubuntu.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
BURG64.efi with latest theme pack as of today (Jun 11th)
Ubuntu Lucid Lynx 10.04

Please provide any additional information below.
I took the liberty of adapting distributor-logo.svg from ubuntu-mono-* for
BURG. It comes with large and grey variants, and the small variant is just
distributor-logo.svg.
You then should copy the pngs to (burg path)/themes/icons, and rename them to
*_ubuntu.png

FakeRaid/mdraid partition not detected by BURG but is detected by GRUB

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Install Burg and themes
2. Run sudo update-burg
3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
GRUB sees FakeRaid (and memtest)
output of update-grub:

insmod part_ms_dos
insmod ntfs

/usr/sbin/burg-probe: error: cannot find a GRUB drive for
/dev/mapper/via_bhejggidfc1. Check your device.map.

also, the windows 7 boot information gets reduced to:
chainloader +1

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Ubuntu 10.10 x64 (single drive ext4)
Windows 7 (Via vt8237 FakeRaid, multiple partitions)

Please provide any additional information below.
GRUB version 1.98+20100804-5ubuntu3 has no problem with fakeraid
Please note that I am not trying to install GRUB or BURG on a fakeraid, only
trying to get it to recognize it and add it to the list without manually having
to edit the boot command every time I install a new BURG theme. Was there a
recent GRUB patch/code change that could be ported to BURG? It seems as there
was an issue like this with GRUB that was fixed in the past year. Also, I
should point out that the fakeraid partitions are fully accessible in Linux, so
there is no issue with misconfiguration that I am aware of.

* Laptop with Intel x64 CPU
* Desktop with AMD x64 CPU
Both two partitions (swap + \) formatted as BTRFS

* existing installs (all the way upgraded from jaunty)
* brand new installs (Lucid+Natty)

After reformatting as Ext4 I could install Burg2.
After reformatting as BTRFS, no go!

In all these scenarios I had no issues with GRUB!
My inkling is that burg-probe is causing the issue.

Number ok Kernels shown

BURG lists all kernels installed, very long list...
it should have an option (like grub) to limitate to last N kernels.

Burg not showing Windows icon

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Install Burg
2. Edit images as described in issue 7
3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I would expect to see the windows icon for my Windows 7 installation. Instead,
I see the "Unknown" icon

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Most recent, installed from repositories. On Ubuntu 10.04/Windows 7

Burg not working properly via f18?

I've seen some great screenshot of the BURG bootloader and tryed to install it
myself via Fedora 18 following your instruction.
Anyway, i'm not having nice times with. Yesterday i just formatted four times
my fedora partition .

I can setup burg without any problem following those instruction but when i
reboot to give it a try it seems to not show my fedora partition.
The boot list just feature windows 7 (my secondo OS on this machine), windows 7
Recovery, a strange "Linux x-..." and "Linux-... Recovery".
Selecting the Linux option i just get stucked in a command screen talking about
"kernel panic - not syncing VFS".

anyone here installed burg via F18 correctly and can give me some suggestions?

thank you,
peppe

Does not require password to access console when using Sora theme

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Add passwords to burg-adduser
2. Switch to Sora theme
3. navigate to the 'Tools' menu and select Terminal

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

It is expected that log in would be required to access the burg terminal, but
instead access is granted without log in

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

burg(1.98+20100623-2.3) on Ubuntu 12.04.1
