Yes, I have a fix for it. But it's gonna be in v2.0 and I'm unsure when exactly I'll be releasing that as it still has some bugs here and there that I need to iron out.
You mentioned "randomly getting this message when launching" so it's not a high priority for me. It sounds like it works but sometimes it doesn't.
Just making sure: Does your friend have the executable in the GTA folder, which presumably lies in C:\Program Files\...?
If so, try moving it to your Desktop or run it as an administrator, since it will try to read / write a config file upon launch / exit.
