romanizepython's Introduction

romanize

Transcribe Greek text to Latin alphabet using the ISO 843:1997 standard (also known as ELOT 743:1987)

Usage

It's a simple function, so you can just import it to your program and use it:

from romanize import romanize
print(romanize('Ελευθέριος Βενιζέλος'))

You can also use it as a standalone module:

python romanize.py Ελευθερία ή Θάνατος

Or use it as a filter:

python romanize.py < text_in_cp1253.txt

It's also installed as a standalone script

romanize Ελευθερία ή Θάνατος
romanize < text_in_cp1253.txt

romanizepython's Issues

Add setup.py and upload to PyPI

You should add a setup.py file so that the module can be uploaded to PyPI and installed automatically via pip/easy_install.

I could add it myself and send a pull request, but setup.py contains a lot of information that you would probably prefer to choose yourself (author, email, copyright stuff etc.)

Initial Update

Hi 👊

This is my first visit to this fine repo, but it seems you have been working hard to keep all dependencies updated so far.

Once you have closed this issue, I'll create seperate pull requests for every update as soon as I find one.

That's it for now!

Happy merging! 🤖
