talks's Introduction

Talks

This repo contains lots of information about talks I've given in the past.

All events were held in-person at the event location (unless specified), and usually lasted 30-60 minutes. I usually speak with a combination of slides and demos.

Event Descriptions

Here are descriptions for some of the common events from above:

Go Serverless with Google Cloud!

  • English: Your development agility comes from building systems composed of small, independent units of functionality focused on doing one thing well. Cloud Functions lets you build and deploy services at the level of a single function, not at the level of entire applications, containers, or VMs. In this session, you will learn the fundamentals about Google Cloud Functions, some use-cases, and how to write Cloud Functions in TypeScript!

All About Apps Script

Learn how to increase the power of your favorite Google apps β€” like Calendar, Docs, Drive, Gmail, Sheets, and Slides – with JavaScript in Google Cloud.

talks's Issues

Love a link to your code from AngularConnect

At AngularConnect, you made it so that when the side bar is shown, you could click any cell and it would update the side bar with the data for that row. I want to do that.

I can't figure out how to respond to when a cell is clicked with Apps Script. Can you please provide your code sample for that talk here so that I can see it and use it as a reference?

Better Video and Virtual Content

  • Articulation: Don't slur.
  • Vocabulary: Use simple, natural speech (not scripts)
  • Tone: Inflections. Pause for emphasis. Natural pitch.
  • Pacing: Complex info should be slow. Easy should be quick
  • Posture: No slouching, hunching, or stiffness
  • Gestures: Can be used to emphasize a point. But they can be distracting
  • Expression: Be consistent with your words.
  • Honesty: Super important and genuine. Super important. Don't say "I am so excited..."
  • Eye contact: Remember to go back to the lens. Bold text.
  • Practice: Any type of public speaking helps make you more comfortable. In real life. Watch yourself.
  • Equipment: Mic, camera, lighting
