Implementation using latest version of d3?

Hi, as the versions of d3 and jQuery used are quite old, are you planning to update versions of these libraries as well? Upgrading d3 version didn't work as a lot of functions moved here and there in later version of d3. It would be very nice to have this upgraded.

I'm using this for a project and I have a few issues and requests. Does it make sense to add theme here?

code cleanup?

The script works great, but the variable names are a, A, h, U and so on. There are no comments as well. :( Could you please add comments, so it is easier to learn and understand what the code does?
