development of the API

  • set up a new npm package.
  • Install necessary pacakages as we go
  • Setup server.js
  • Setup db for connecting mangodb
  • check for connection status and server status with conditonal logging
  • Created a model schema for the cars model and defined the fields
  • Added static data to mangodb via Mangodb compass
  • Created an express router to make the routes
  • roomsRoute to create the endpoints to fetch and send the data to front-end
  • Used POSTMON to check the API endpoints to check the data theat being fetched

Pacakges

  • dotenv - loads environment variables from a .env file into process.env
  • express - Fast, unopinionated, minimalist web framework for node.
  • mongoose - for db connection
  • nodemon - automatic restarting the node application when file changes in the directory are detected.
  • router - to make routes
