Ranker

Hi,

Does the ranker directly operate on all passages during testing time? Or is there a first pass retrieval using BM25, then the ranker is used to re-rank the retrieved passages? It seems to me that the former strategy is adopted according to the paper, but I guess the retrieval speed would be a concern considering that BERT is slow. Can you shed more light on this?
