Features

List of buttons, from top to bottom:

First row

  • Launch Anki
  • Go to Deck Overview
  • Quit Anki (with confirmation dialog)

Second row

  • Backspace
  • Select deck
  • Escape

Third row

The following features require the Zoom and Toggle Full Screen add-ons for Anki to be installed.

  • Reset zoom
  • Zoom in
  • Zoom out
  • Go fullscreen

Fourth row

  • Move up
  • Answer/Confirm selection
  • Move down

Fifth row

  • Apply rating: 1/2/3/4

Sixth row

  • Repeat media playback
  • Mark card
  • Suspend note
  • Undo

Requirements

  • Anki 2.0.x or 2.1.x
    • Please note that – due to key assignment changes – some of the features in this remote might not work with Anki 2.1. Unfortunately there is no good way to detect which version of Anki is running. As soon as 2.1 overtakes 2.0 in general use I will be updating the remote to reflect the new hotkey assignments.
  • Zoom and Toggle Full Screen add-ons for Anki (optional)

Changelog

  • 2018-09-04: Added note on Anki 2.1 support
  • 2016-05-14: Added support for OS X (thanks to @luminousspice!)
  • 2016-05-08: Added more buttons; Restructured remote; Remote now asks for confirmation before exiting
  • 2015-08-09: Initial release

unified-remote-anki's Issues

Full screen toggle button not working on OS X

I tried to use this script with my devices (OS X 10.9 and iOS 7). Here's a brief report.

  • First row: Launch and Quit don't work.
  • Second row doesn't work.
  • Third row doesn't work. Go fullscreen only simulates Press F11 and couldn't call Toggle Full Screen add-ons.
  • Fourth row works fine.
  • Fifth row works fine.
  • Sixth row: Undo doesn't work.

Zoom feature of bulit-in mouse simulation works.

edited remote

I edited the remote for Windows a bit and wanted to share. Maybe it helps somebody:

In layout:
<layout onVolumeUp="show_answer" onVolumeDown="rating_1" color="#0383DC">

That way you can use the physical volume rockers on your phone to show the answer and rate good or again - which is nice if you are on a treadmill.

In remote:
actions.launch = function () os.open("C:\\Program Files\\Anki\\anki.exe"); end
The function didn't work for me previously. With this change it opens anki.

I use Win10

Thank you for your work!

Paid version of Unified Remote required?

Hi, Glutaminate. First I’d like to thank you for the many useful addons you share for Anki.

This question is more about the Unified app than about your custom remote. I installed the free version yesterday and I'm currently using the "Numpad Remote" in my Anki reviews, (which is nice enough, I guess). But can you clarify if is the paid version of the app required for custom remotes like yours?

Thanks!

Love it. But trouble with scrolling on Mac.

This app is amazing. AMAZING.

My only issue is that the scrolling on Mac doesn't work until you "wake it up" by scrolling on the laptop trackpad first. Would love if I could scroll from the app from the get go.

Thanks.
Best,
Ian

Anki v2.1 support

Hey, wanted to see if there could be an update to support Anki v2.1. Seems like there are some differences in the UI for v2.1 that are incompatible, namely: The up and down buttons do not work for both the decks page and each individual card page. Note: I am running Anki v2.1 on OS X.

For the decks page, navigation up and down between the decks doesn’t seem possible at all. The Tab button and Enter button can be used, but Shift-Tab does not reverse the navigation direction.

For the individual cards, the focus seems to be on the reveal answer button, so the up and down navigation does not work.

Not sure if there would be a way to support both Anki v2.0 and Anki v2.1 at the same time, as you mentioned in the readme.

Would be willing to contribute ideas on how to implement this if possible.
