oSu!PARK: Galactic Groove

Welcome to the oSu!PARK: Galactic Groove project, brought to you by the 2023/24 Spark Design Club at the University of Toronto!

About the Project

oSu!PARK: Galactic Groove is an arcade-style game inspired by rhythm games like Osu!. Our goal is to create an exciting gaming experience for students on the University of Toronto campus, offering a break from classes and a chance to compete with various beatmaps.

Technologies Used

Unity Game Engine: The game's software and design are developed using Unity.
Raspberry Pi 3 Model B: The game runs on a Raspberry Pi 3 Model B, connected to a monitor for easy accessibility.

Program user interaction feedback to buttons for Map Select

Write script for button feedback (changing colour when clicked).

Program leaderboard username input for Game Results page

Write a script for receiving button inputs and converting them to characters
Save the inputted username as a variable
Update the leaderboard with the newly sorted list

Create UI objects for Game Results scene

Import images and objects as UI (e.g., background GIF).

Research how to access variables between Unity scenes

Create sprites for Map Select scene

Add all relevant images and text to the scene.

Create initial scene for Game Results/Scoreboard

Write script for button feedback (changing colour when clicked).

Create global variable for mode selection

Create a script to save game mode (casual, competitive) globally.

Create sprites for Game Results scene

Add all relevant images and text to the scene.

Create filters for Map Select

Program filters for "by difficulty", "by alphabetical", "by available special controls used".

Create UI objects for Map Select scene

Import images and objects as UI (e.g., background GIF, scrollbar for song selection).
