gwsky's Issues

creating / saving FOV

  1. a first issue is that sometimes one gets a pop-up window with error :
local variable 'table' referenced before assignment
I have obtained this error after asking for a second or third FOV, and waiting for the statistics window.
The previous statistic window was closed with the "confirm" botton.
(both Andrea and Giulia can replicate this)
After that, one needs to re-start Aladin and GW-sky.

  2. Second issue is that there is no backup: if someone confirms a new FOV, only pointings are kept, but all statistics is lost. It would be cool to have also queries of previous pointings saved, and be able to open with other tools, e.g topcat.
It would be even wonderful to have the possibility to save also the statistic images (idea: a botton close to activate statistics).

  3. If someone closes start FOV window, ans atsrts a new one, old FOVs poitings are lost. There should be a warning.

Design FOV

This is a moajor issue and we are also looking for a solution to share:

we noticed that the place where a new FOV is created it slightly depends from which FOV you are coming. This can leave some gaps between FOVs.

Most important, there should never be any gap, better to overlap a little bit. It is difficult to avoid this diminishing the FOV size. It would be better the fov to rotate in order to cover the gaps+ a little overlap.

pop-up window User Values

The field 5 (FoV shape), shows BOTH the box and circle fields has already selected with a grey dot. The user often does not realize that actually non is selected.

Error using 'from GWsky import coverage'

Two issues found while importing coverage in OS X:

2016-11-24 11:01:15.313 python[55490:1884417] *** Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInvalidArgumentException', reason: '-[NSApplication _setup:]: unrecognized selector sent to instance 0x1006dc3c0'

libc++abi.dylib: terminating with uncaught exception of type NSException
Abort trap: 6

any hints?

packages necessary for installation

before installing be sure to have : (tested on Ubuntu 14.* and 16.*)

python-dev libffi-dev libssl-dev libxml2-dev libxslt1-dev libjpeg8-dev zlib1g-dev python-tk

tk=8.5.18

I solved initial error messages in importing UserValues by updating the tk library from 8.5.9 to 8.5.18

Please add software requirements.
In particular for Aladin beta.

Users need to know how to set-up software requirements:
right now installation on Ubuntu 16.04 and 14.04 (32 and 64 bit), using repository python modules
ends with an error compiling GW sky:

'dict' object has no attribute 'NUMPY_SETUP'
