Image Downloader

Allows you to download images from remote images in a cost effective way. Before downloading an image it makes a HEAD request and checks the Content-Type, and Content-Length headers in HTTP Response.

If server reports an image is at that URL, Image Downloader will issue a GET request and download the image.

Make ImageDownloader to download images

It should be able to download images:

check image size (via Content-Length), and Content-Type before actual download with HEAD request
download image and save to file system
verify file is valid image using getimagesize

Errors

Appropriate Exception should be thrown if an error occurs.

Content-Length check

Script must not rely that Content-Length and Content-Type headers are going to be present, since many server administrators have HEAD HTTP requests disabled.

Content-Type check

Content-Type check is complicated because there are way too many MIME types for images. Therefore, create a separate ImageDataTypes class holding a list of valid MIME types.

Add example in README how to use AWS S3 as storage

This project is meant to be flexible and extensible. Instead of restricting user to save downloaded image file to local file system, it can save it to a third party file system such as AWS S3.

Add contribution information in README

Submit repository to Packagist and update installation instructions

Add travis.yml, and integrate with SensiolabsInsights

Add Travis build status icon and Sensiolabs Insights badge in README.md
